a regular dropped these off with a note that he thought they may be responsible for the demise of several mobo's.
was getting a warning from a psu tester(worthless as tits on a boar) the warning is lack of -5. no problem. but +12 is only 9.4v! 3 ost caps on that line are open.no external signs. i recapped both units and they are now in spec. these units have 05 datecodes. i replaced every ost in it which is all but the main primary cap which is a hitachi. |

Bad to hear that from Seasonic. But anyway, if you need a decent PSu today, i think you have no choice to recap them, regardles of price & brand.

Hmm, saddening news, I thought Ost had somewhat good quality control anyway, atleast on par with TEAPO
I'm really hoping Seasonic will stay with the UCC caps in their new built PSU:s... |

For what it's worth the last Seasonic I installed had all Chemi-cons on the output side.
When did Seasonic use fuhjyuu? |

Well, Teapo usually don`t leak or bulge, despite that they are bad too.
if that is any better i duno, but i prefer someting wich indicates, that it have failed. Any way, i think those Ost are not used within their pec in this PSu`s, they can`t stand heat, and IMHo those Seasonic are more on the silent not on the cooling trip. On my FSP PSU's i have had no problems with neither Ost nor Jamicon. The only exceptions are some MEdion OEM units, wich are obviousely trimed to satify the customers demand for silent systems, but they are running that hot that they usually are bad before the warranty is expired, but signs of problems occure later.....so it fits the needs for cheap mass production systems wich are not intended for seriouse ussage and too long life.
