Well you'll have to get one then .

Not an expensive one a cheap 20 dollar one from Ratshack will do.

A DMM is a bare basic for troubleshooting anything especially PSUs.

fixed it

broken trace next to power plug

oh and ivdo have one but it needs new batteries and doesnt do much

ill get one at the electonis store where i buy my equipment. they sell stuff at radarshaq prices but with primo quality. i bought my iron and sucker there and they sponsor the robotics team im on. the stuff they donated gets used and abused for 6 weeks of the year and the rest of the time it has to work on demand. never had a tool break, and they do the job well

ratdude747 that good diagnosis, but you need to lay down short length of bare braid or wick across break and solder it. Solder alone is not strong enough and will crack again in short time.

actually, it broke because the cable they gave me fit too tight. if it breaks again ill just hardwire it and be done

what happened was i was fixing a cold joint i found when i noticed the mickey-mouse jack felt really loose. ant i saw the dead trace. the tight cable required so much wiggling that any jack would go like that. thank god i had another cable from an old dell laptop that fit much better

what makes it all funny is if i returned it, i would pay shipping to and back, costing a total of over 2o bucks. i paid 30 for the cable. for 10m bucks id rater void a warranty and fix it in 10 min rather than wait 3 weeks for new cord

and i paid 11 bucks at a goodwill for the tv. display model. small 13'' one, EDTV (in between SDTV and HDTV (1080p). great picture.

Damn, that sucks.

I had similar problem with the power supply for a wireless AP. Turned out to be an open startup resistor

This is why I use my astec 425W psu for powering things.

It has 12v, 5v, and 3.3v sense. (proprietary astec housecleaning chip for that)

Not to mention 2 12v rails at 15A each, it makes a excellent lab/rc car charger/window fan power/well, you get the picture.

Plus I will die before this thing does, and it was only $10.
