ihome IH22 ipod speaker dock

i have said item with an issue. when item is plugged into wall the screen flashes funny. unplugged with batteries installed no flashing. i can charge my ipod on this but it will not play music. i can adjust the time, adjust the alarm settings, etc. it's in great shape and all. any one come across this at all. i haven't got around to taking apart yet but if someone has a suggestion i will take apart and post some photo's but wasn't going to take to much time with it as i got it for free anyhow. i'll just keep it for now to charge ipod's. thanks.
