    Acer AL2032W repair. I'm Stumped!

I have an Acer AL2032w LCD monitor that is about 4-5 yrs old.
When I turn my computer off at night and restart it in the morning my monitor will not turn on at all. (The orange light is on then goes out and there is no other light). I did some research and thought that it was the TFT INVERTER BOARD (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/55-L38VE-...item2563f578b5) so I brought this off ebay and replaced it.
The monitor is still doing the same thing.
I then turned off just the monitor (using the off/on button) and it turns back on straight away. I turned the monitor off at night then in the morning it would not turn on again.
To get it going again I have to undo the back panel and when I do this and plug it in it powers on...It's got me stumped as to what it may be.
    Any ideas appreciated..Thanks

This sounds like bad caps on the power board. As the monitor warms up, the cap's ESR (ohms) is lowered. When cold, the ESR is high and the monitor won't come on.

Take a top down view of all your boards (front and back). Make sure the photo is legible so that we can read the PCB printing clearly. A shutter speed of 1/125 or faster will produce nice clear focused pictures. Try to get a photo that is 2000x2000 resolution or as close as possible.

Here is an example of the pictures we want and see my sig file below on how to upload the pictures.

      Thanks for the reply "retiredcaps".
      Is this the power board?

If so it's new and the problem is still there.

      Cheers

The power board is where your AC cord plugs into.

this is an older thread has any one found an answer. i have the same monitor but the power light blinks amber. and it wont turn on fully any more. it did work about a month ago, but it has slowly stopped working. i have taken it apart and the caps "seem" ok to me. i have read 4 other threads on this monitor but haven't found a solid answer. should i create a new thread to start from the beginning of trouble shooting process?

Well, it depends on the problem

This seems a pretty solid answer

We can help a lot more if you please post good clear pictures of the whole chassis, and then pictures of each board, front and back (in the same orientation) and close up of connectors, (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Dang, I didn't see that one at all when I searched. I just found the 5 16v 330uf caps of which he speaks. Now I just need to find some one to replace them for me. I don't have enough skill in soldering to do this. the extent of my skill is soldering a switch, batteries and a red laser inside a nerf gun. any other words of wisdom before i start calling around my area?

They may not be the whole problem - if you had replaced them weeks ago when it was
starting to fault would have been better - as they get worse they put pressure on other
components. We would normally recommend replacing all the caps except the large one
unless the others are a decent make.
For replacements try to get panasonic FM or FR - careful to check the physical size.
Radioshack or frys ones are unlikely to last long.
                Merry Christmas
