Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hello there everyone.
My name is Clint. I work in the construction industry and I have no training at all in computers or electronics except for what I have learned myself from research and trial & error. I just joined this forum because I enjoy fixing things that are broken (almost anything as long as it isn't flirting with danger) and at the moment my laptop needs fixing. I believe i've tracked down the issue with my PC and now need the help of more specific experts such as many this forums members. I'm not sure if what I need is a little too specialised for me to do myself, or if I should have a crack myself. Long story short....... Thats why I'm here.

Hi, my name is Crezz, electronics has fascinated me since about 1988 when I fitted my first satellite system, I've owned and installed many motorised systems since, the fascination seems to have spiralled out of control with repairs to radios, radio scanners, satellite receivers, tv's, pc's, laptops, mobile phones and a few iPads (screens and control cables). I hope my knowledge may become of some use to anybody using this forum, I enjoy browsing through the forum and reading other people's electrical problems, if I think I could help anybody I'll be posting away, ps Thank You for the welcome. . . . Hello - I'm new to the forum. Looking forward to the knowledge and experience everyone brings. I'm a retired Coastie (USCG). I'm trying to fix my Mom's 43" Samsung Plasma TV and knew that this problem wasn't likely novel - so found this forum and was grateful. I think I've already found the tread I needed to fix it! Anyhow, thanks to everyone in advance for having me.

Name's Alexander, but I go by Sasha, I divide my time between Northern New York and the Catskills. I graduated from a SUNY college last year, have been job hunting and in the last few months while job hunting I've kept myself occupied by doing recaps. The first one I did with my stepdad was back in 2009 to a five year old Intel mobo (whose blown caps I still have in my "hall of shamed badcaps" unless I threw them out). Since then I've recapped many boards myself, with better luck on computer monitors. I've also re-soldered computer power supplies as well. I've had a membership here for a while but rarely post.

                                Hi All,
I tried to post here yesterday. The post was beautiful. Apparently it was lost. So here is the ugly version:

repaired Westinghouse industrial computers built with transistors using core memory with IO an ASR-35 teletype taking 3 hours to reload software from paper tape
fully populated Trash 80 memory space before Radio Shack did
interested in ham radio, antennas, morse code
RC cars and planes but want a quad copter to carry antenna wire over trees
3D printing robot, related software, arduino board
                                learning java
                                fixing what breaks
working on Benq 48.L2903.A23 monitor backlight power supply and many web searches pointed to Badcaps site

                                  Hi!

You may know this itching when visiting a landfill or a recycling center. Seeing containers full of electronics. These could all be fixed, you think. Or you have this love for old stuff - be it "retro", "nostalgia" or "vintage" - and you JUST want it to FUNCTION properly (again). Or you're just the curious type of person who wants to know HOW things work. Well, IF they work.

                                  Yep. That's why I'm here.

It's the Amiga, I keep for nostalgia reasons, the notebook I got for free because it's GPU needed a reballing and this curiosity how it all works - or can be fixed if necessary.

                                  Nice to meet you!

Hi everyone! I joined to increase my knowledge in the repair of Hitachi, Sony and Samsung TVs starting from the beginning of 2005. I just like to take two broken things and make one work and giving that to someone instead of it being "recycled".

                                        Hi
My name is eddie and I love tinkering with electronics and trying to get things
to work again.Im useless when it comes to capacitors and regulators
and such things as that.I built my own high spec pc but if something
went wrong on the motherboard I would be totally lost as to the cause of the fault.
So my knowledge is limited when it comes to electrical components and fault finding.
