that's what i thought.

but now i think it has something to do with the actual construction of a circuit board. component placement, hole drilling, etc.

these are apparently produced using CAD programs.

anyone familiar with electronic blueprints?

What you are talking about now is correctly called a PCB Layout.

Some one is using the wrong term for something.
It may be due to a translation glitch/error between some language and another.

i know what a pcb layout is. i've made my own circuit boards.

do you think i may be dealing with a somebody without a clue about terminology?

Yes, that's what I said.
Either that or a translational error.

Not going to go through a proof but I will give an example.
The 'old name' for capacitor was condenser. [Even in English].
Some languages still use condenser and it still translates to English as condenser.
-
CONdenser is where the 'con' comes from in all those cap brand names.
NichiCON, Chemi-CON, RubyCON,,,,,,,,,,,

your original term doe not really exist. reason is because electronics is a cross between programming and architecture- you can model both as a 2d/3d physical drawing (PCB layout) or as a flowchart (wiring diagram). such a term therefore would be ambiguous.

FYI- pcbonez can be like that... he has little tolerance for stupidity, real or assumed. Your username is a bit "oddball" so he assumed you do not know english very wel. which to him is stupidity.

then why did you assume it was a translation issue? magic 8 ball?

it could have been a friend of xaxxon or another person's noobery he heard. it could have been a typo online. it could have been a more generalized term for people who are not electronics-inclined.

i might be 18 but i sure as hell aint a dumbass nor do i lack common sense.

I didn't assume it was I said it could be.
Further I made no assumptions about the OP's language.
Further I never assumed the OP did the translation that had the error if that's where it came from.

Well what you -assumed- in this thread right here says otherwise.

thats what i based my opinion off of. Now looking again, i see that you may not have been referring to HIS/HER language... I honestly admit i jumped a bit.

sorry about that... I need to stop skimming over threads...

not an idiot, i just screwed up.

Exactly.
- Now go look up the English expression "may be".

You -may be- having an English to English translation error.

Perhaps it refers to the design of an IC? - or is that called something else?

I was minding my own business and having a pleasant conversation with the OP when this loud mouth juvenile delinquent attempted a drive by.

He knows me well enough to know I won't put up with that so obviously the disruption of the thread was DELIBERATE and INTENTIONAL.

No, I'm not going to look past deliberate social misbehavior from someone old enough to know better just because of the date.

If OP could show us where it was used or explain the context maybe we could figure it out.

Technically [in engineering] Blueprint refers to the process used to print the design and the completed printed document and not to the design printed on the document.

sorry guys!

i live near the canadian border, but i do speak english.

i had responded to a craigslist job posting where apparently the office manager had done the job posting and referred to a required knowledge of "electronic blueprints".

when i called, i asked what she was referring to. when i asked her what an "electronic blueprint" was, she put me on hold to ask a co-worker(?), and came back to tell me that it was a necessary thing to know.

i assumed, during the phone call, that i had missed something in my 20+ years in electronics. however, at this point, i'm guessing that it was her cluelessness.

If it's a head-hunter/recruitment firm or a company that deals with non-electronic stuff (i.e. cement, pipeline, painting) etc. then they can use alien-bimbo-lingo when trying to find someone. Be careful, as they are clearly clueless and it's no fun working for a company like that.
Just ask them why you need to read "electronic blueprints". You might have to translate for electricians etc, or spec parts, make bills of materials, repair stuff etc.

I would say that is almost a certainty.

I think it makes most sense that they were probably referring to schematic diagrams.

Thats' about what I thought. [Someone term-inally clueless.]

Perhaps you could give us the number and all the ET's here could individually call the Office Manager and ask what an Electronics Blueprint is.
Then we could post back what she says.
Should become interesting somewhere between 5 and 15 calls.
