Default Building a CCFL Tester-Question on Power Switch

I have a PSU -inverter board I pulled from a monitor with a cracked screen. I would like to use it as a backlight CCFL tester, but am wondering how to wire up an on off switch. Am i correct to solder a wire onto the ON/OFF terminal then to the ground? will this work. Right now i am using the switch that was on the monitor, but it runs through the Dsub board which I am trying to eliminate. What volt/amp rating would i need for the switch?

Thanks...
