motherboard short repair question

I got a bad laptop that was only turning on sometimes and would turn it self off. I was checking out the capacitors and one was staying at 2.3 volts when it should of been 6.4v. I tried linking it with a different one and it started working but while testing I accidentally move wire and it touched a different cap and shorted out and has no power now. If I replace that cap should the computer turn on again. If I post pics of the two caps will someone on here be able to tell me what the are so I can buy the right ones. Thank you

caps arent likely to be the problem
how about the make & model?
maybe even a foto or 2 showing what you touched??

in photo 81 is the cap thats blue is shows k06w 150 6.3 v. it was only showing 2.3-2.5v when tested. in photo 80 is the cap next the right to pc50 it was coming up at 19-20v before I shorted it. that was the one I linked tto the blue cap.

the voltage marked on the cap is not the voltage you should see, it's the maximum it can take without being damaged.

you need very good pictures of the area to the right of pc50 including the square chip it connects with.

pics are taken with my iphone. I don't have a different camera to take them with the are as clear as I could get.

I think that one was pc47 not pc 50. I found a schematic and pc50 shows 6.3v when the cap tested 19-20v and pc47 is 25v

Are you saying that the DCV on PC50 (filter cap for 5V supply) you are getting 19-20V on this PC50 cap?
And you are not getting any DCV on PC47 which is part of multiple filter caps for +PWR_SRC?
PC50 is rated Voltage is 6.3V (it does not mean it will have 6.3V on the cap).
PC47 is raeted at 25V (it does not mean it will have 25V on the cap).

the one I thought was pc50 is pc47. yes no dcv from the pads directly.

Then you need to look at the diagram to find where the circuit that generates the Voltage source +PWR_SRC is at. It may have fuse for protection.

I couldn't find a fuse. Is the board unsaveable?

Look at the schematic to at least to locate the +PWR_SRC power supply.
I am sure there are lots of SMD fuse on the board.

That is the one.
+DC INPUT fed into the MOSFET PQ1, check and see waht you have on pin 5~8 (in), 1~3 (out), pin 4 (gate).
Do the same on PQ2.
Check the current sensing resistor PR8 (6?).
