I bought this board nowing it dident work realy cheap cuz i knew there was a chance it could be bad caps. But the problem is i cant se bad caps i dont know what the should look like so i was hoping you people could help me with these pics. There is a tv radio shop down here in sweden where i live that say they can recap it but because they dont do a bad cap search on motherboards they cant garantie me that it will work, så basicly they could give the motherboard back with same caps and charge me for it.

Re: Newbi need help identifying bad caps VP6 board.
the problem is that you dont know the history of the board. there does not appear to be bulging in your caps. the green ones are teapo by the way, the black i cannot tell from that side. teapos generally dont bulge when they fail though
but you must consider that it could be another problem like bad bios flash or something else and the recapping may not solve the problem. it might however solve the problem but you should consider this before you pay.
since the tv shop is not familiar with motherboards, you must tell them to use only high quality low esr caps of Japanese make. Like Panasonic FC, Rubycon ZL etc. normal 85oC caps will not be ok, they must use 105oC Low ESR. also they must be careful to remove the caps gently and insert the new caps gently because there is a lead port which goes through the hole in the board and joins up the multi-layers of the board. if this is damaged then the board will not work.
they should use the same values on the board if possible otherwise they may increase the capacitance/voltage but not decrease. if they have problems to fit the new caps which may be 10mm width in the positions of the old caps which were probably 8mm, they may angle the caps or bend the leads so they are lying flat on the board. there is no problem to do that in places.

Thanks willawake .. lots of good info there, i know for shure that its not the bios and it doesnt seem to be burned out slots. By what ive read about symptoms for bad caps it seems to lead agains that, of course the possibility of anything else gone bad is very high. If you need better pics just tell me i can fix that maby from some other side, the only ones that look cinda of strange to me or those 2 black ones next the the agp on the pic they dont seem to feel to good.
My english is not the best, so sorry in advanced.

Re: Newbi need help identifying bad caps VP6 board.
Where do all people go to recap their motherboards as it seems impossible for me to find a computer store that does that here in sweden, all off them say its to expencive its better to by a new board, but when i talk to tv/radio shops they dont take that much ? It would be ncice to find someone that allready knows all that info that willawake was talking about, I just hope that when i give the tv shop that info they will think that i know my stuff and think twice before they rip me off.

yup, once you learn you will never worry about the problem again. it is not that difficult. my first board looked really sloppy but worked.

and then click through :

Re: Newbi need help identifying bad caps VP6 board.
Sorry for all the extra questions but i dont realy know the first thing about capacitors and that kinda off work. According to this pic from vp6-board.com http://www.vp6-board.com/images/caps/Layout.png I only need to replace the green ones is this right ? Because i was going to replace all the big ones black and green and leave the smal ones because i heard here somewhere that there not as a big problem.
And do you know i good place that shows how to take the caps out ? And what is the worse thing that could happend if i led the caps wrong big burn out or just no post ?
By the way willawake thanks for that link the order is on the way, and thanks for everybody else that is helping to.
