    Intel DG41AN, any overclocking?

    http://www.intel.com/products/deskto...n-overview.htm

Really thinking about getting one of these to build a SFF PC for my work. This board is perfect, because it has a legacy parallel port that will work with my ROM programmer.

I plan to pair it with a Celeron E3400, which meets the 65W TDP limit, and should be ok in a small ITX case.

Will it support any overclocking? I know most Intel boards don't, and even if this one does, it might go over 65W anyhow, correct?

I'm really torn between Mini ITX and Micro ATX. The SFF system would be great for desk space, but might be a bit inconvenient for expandability. I recently built a couple MATX systems on the Gigabyte G41M-ES2L, and I wouldn't mind building a third for my work PC.

my brother has that board in his HTPC with a Celeron Dualcore E1400 (2x2GHz)
    overclocking? forget about it..
this thing is about as basic as it gets (settings wise).

edit: nvm.. my bro has the DG41MJ (basically the same thing with DDR2 instead of DDR3)
PS: what about the asus board..? you never answered my last PM on YT :/

You didn't get my reply about the board swap? I think it would be a nice idea. Did you still want to swap for the G41M-ES2L?

Once I get the Asus set up and make sure everything is stable, I could put the G41M back in its factory box and ship it off to you. It's been well tested for a few weeks now.

As for my work PC, I'll probably just go with the MATX rig. I'll need the 3.5 bays for a floppy and a card reader anyhow.

Overclocking is possible anywhere, I must remind all, but it is heavily achievable on such machines. Forget about it IN BIOS only - I 100% you won't find any reference to adjustments of FSB/RAM and voltage settings (HW monitor should be present though). The only option that on hand for you is that you may try the tons of overclocking utilities swarming the net, it only depends on the setting of your clock generator - I've tried ony 4-5 programs and I remember that 3 required my selection of a clock generator (or was it the HW monitor chip?) from a huge list provided - BUT you ought to choose the identical model number or what to get it working, otherwise you may face freeze-ups and any other problems, possible damage included.

If I had to bet on this, I think that this mobo is quite new, so that the utilities may not have some of the newer chips included in their list, so bad luck is awaiting you , sorry.

(You may dig for more info about this board in the link you posted, try to do so.)
        Mobo: MSI K8N Master2-FAR CPU: 2x Opteron 265 OC'd @ 2,25GHz RAM: 2x2GB Crucial DDR400 CL3 ECC/Buff. (ECC OFF), VGA: ASUS HD6950 2GB Reference edition FLASHED TO HD6970 HDD: 80GB ATA133 Seagate ,OnBoard: 2xGLAN, 8-Ch. Realtek audio, USB2.0/Firewire, PCIe Physx card PSU: 850W Corsair AX Case: Cooler Master HAF932 + NZXT 5 Fan Controller.
