    Biostar m6tba v1,5

A biostar m6tba v1,5 belonging to my school is in a system with celeron 433 in slotket, 256mb sdram. I upgraded with new HDD, PSU, and video card and now it will not boot. All fans spin up, but no video and no beeps. It will remain in this state until turned off. I have tried booting w/o HDD, optical, and with case fans disconnected (normally connected to MB). ideas?

Well, does it boot with the original components?

Maybe the board is only AGP 3.3v and you used a 1.5v AGP card?

I used a Diamond SpeedStar A50 AGP card, is SiS 6326 chipset. I haven't checked with the original components, the old HDD was dead.

slotkets can cause lots of trouble.
        check it first.

          1) Slotkets come in different varieties with small (and crucial) differences in the reset signals, bus arbitration signals, etc. Make sure you have one that will work with a Mendocino Celeron.

          2) The BIOS may need to be upgraded to support the microcode update for the Socket-370 Mendocino Celeron. Note that there separate microcode updates for the Slot-1 and Socket-370 Mendocino CPUs - you need both to be able to support the Mendocino in a Slotket. If you have an Award BIOS, you can add microcode updates to it using CBROM and similar utilities even if there's no official BIOS upgrade from the manufacturer with support for the Mendocino/Katmai/Coppermine.

Oh, BTW - Biostar is big on those green Jackcon and black Teapo caps. Replace *all* the Jackcons first, even if they're not bulging, and optionally the Teapos (which should be OK, but not great).

It was working before I overhauled it, so the BIOS and slotket support Mendocino Celerons. The board has no Jackcons, it has Choyo, Sanyo, and Teapo tho.

Clean the Slotket edge contacts with isopropyl alcohol and reseat it firmly - there's very little by way of large caps on a slotket, so the Vcc/GND contacts are critical.

The motherboard is AGP 2x, as is the SpeedStar A50, so this shouldn't be an issue. However, Per's point is valid. Does it POST with the original video card? Could it be a problem with the A50 (the motherboard "sees" a video card installed, so it doesn't give the "no video" beeps, but the card is still bad)?

I tested the card in other board (soyo SY-5ehm) and it worked.

RTX3090 working fine but fans not spinning
                      by emil_t
Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....

                      Good Afternoon, Good People.

I know this will be an elementary little project for most if not all of you, but I thought I would write a post and get put on track, rather than bumbling my way through it with all kinds of trials and errors.

I REALLY would appreciate y'alls help.

This is the problem - My wife and I purchased a big ol Victorian/Colonial House in NYC two years ago. The kitchen is surrounded on 3 sides by exterior walls, there is also a 1/4 of the kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) that has a crawl space underneath, and the kitchen gets FREEZING cold...

Request for Boardview/Schematic - Biostar B660-T Silver Motherboard
                      by selectivetao
                      Hello fellows,

I am putting a feeler out for a schematic (or ideally boardview) for the Biostar B660-T Silver motherboard.

I had let my guard down and decided to trust the Biostar supplied Windows based BIOS flash tool, only to find that the system would not POST upon restart.

no problem I thought - I would just flash using my trusty CH341 and be on my merry way.

Upon inspecting the board and locating its Winbond NOR, I found it in a rather precarious spot nestled between the RAM slots and PCIe slot and right next to a rather meltable-looking...

my Xiaomi Notebook Pro X laptop fans work like crazy for no reason
                      by sda sad
Hope this is the right place, someone can help me.
My laptop started having a really strange problem....
When I turn it on the fans start working at a crazy rate and with random breaks...
They can work for say 10 seconds and stop for 2 seconds and then turn on again for 5 etc...
And it's from 0 to 100%. I tried to install AIDA and did the processor chip test and the graphics did not exceed 70 degrees and the fans were not even close to working at the power they work randomly.
