new ga-f2a68hm-ds2 motherboard with no vga output

Just to ask here... I am from era where every port is working initialy... in now days I see there is graphics depend of version of cpu... So, I have desktop mb ga-f2a68hm-ds2 with no graphics on onboard vga port... with external graphics card produce picture, is ok. I found that might be because my cpu athlon x4 845 has no "graphics in it", but from mb datasheet is mentioned that have onboard graphics... So, is there some sign, where or what to look, to know if the mb vga output is faulty, or simply disabled by cpu inability? Proper confused...

I make some test with and without external graphics card and logicaly conclude that is everything just what have to be (not display on mb onboard vga and dvi port), so please, can you explain me briefly how is that supposed to work, is that ports use resource from external pcie graphics card, or only from cpu with integrated graphics in it?

The ports on the motherboard only work if the CPU has integrated graphics. There is no "back-feed" from a dedicated GPU to the motherboard so if your CPU doesn't have integrated graphics and you're using a dedicated GPU then only the vide ports on the GPU itself will work.

Thank you very much for answer. Please can you explain me just one more thing: how can be determined if some mb with vga onboard port need cpu with integrated graphics to output (or something other go wrong), is there some procedure, steps or date code, etc from where motherboard are produced uncompleted? This topic is very new to me, trying understand how to aproach no vga output problem if there is "no problem".

Once integrated graphics (iGPU) was moved from the motherboard chipset to the CPU (beginning with first gen "Clarkdale" Core I3/5/7 series for intel and the "FMx" socket "Llano" CPUs for AMD) the video ports on the motherboard would only work with a CPU that has integrated graphics. Prior to that the integrated graphics was on the motherboard (generally in the northbridge chipset, though some really old boards had a separate integrated GPU chip), and if a board didn't have an integrated GPU it also didn't have integrated video ports, but with the move of the iGPU to the CPU most motherboards will have video ports since at least some of the CPUs they support will have an iGPU but these ports will only work when a CPU with an iGPU is installed.

In the case of your FM2+ socket motherboard the "A4/A6/A8/A10" branded CPUs have integrated GPUs and will output video from the motherboard's video ports, while the "Athlon" branded CPUs lack integrated graphics, and will only work with a dedicated GPU, and the video ports on the motherboard will not work with one of these CPUs installed.
