    Sound Blaster Issues

Hey guys I'm having a problem with my main pc. (less than a year old)

Somehow the on-board audio on my Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 has blown out. There is always different tones of clunking (the speakers are fine) and it happens at the bios screen so Windows 8.1 is not the issue.

I put in my old Creative Soundblaster Live SB0060 Card and installed the KX3550 driver which got the sound working when i am plugged into the black port of the card. It works fine but the KX-Mixer software doesn't work. I get the massage "Error initializing your audio card Please install drivers If you haven't rebooted after setup - please reboot now If KX Setup is currently in progress - ignore this message" I get this error everytime I boot or when I try to open the KX-Mixer software. Also my sound card has an expansion cable going to a 5.25 inch bay device. The speaker jack on that card just gives a continuous hum and nothing else works.

Also I would like to know if there is a way to attach the front facing ports (mic and headphones) to the card for output because they are currently connected to the fried onboard controller.

The green port on my card does nothing, only the black port works.

So, in a nutshell, I would like to get the KX software working, get the front bay card working, get my front ports working, and finally get the other ports on my sound card working.

My operating system is Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit which is pretty new for this sound card I know, but it's the only card I have.

I hope someone out there has some experience with these old cards and can get me up and running or it may be a new mobo for me.

    Thanks!

Do I have to uninstall the existing driver?

I'm not certain, but it probably wouldn't hurt.

The card is not faulty because it is working with the drivers I have. It just isn't configured properly as stated in my first post.

I don't recall Windows 8 being supported by the kxProject.

I don't think it is but its just kinda working.

I got the audio output on the front dock connector working. I was a fool and only connected the ribbon cable to one row of pins instead of two.

My only problem now is none of the mic inputs work.

check the mixer settings, on linux atleast, they are muted with the gain at zero by default to reduce noise in the card/chip

                                    o.k.
i think you are screwed unless you dump that joke pretending to be an operating system.
unless you can find a 3rd party mixer software that will work.
there used to be a few that came with motherboards like asus and epox but i doubt they will work on win8 either.

i presume you disabled the onboard audio in the bios and made sure it's not being allocated an interupt?
