the dell link wont work for me - dell screwed the page.
        but the second is interesting.
it says 3 monitors - and that is a lot cheaper than i expected.

        one thing i would check,
that heatsink fly's real low - make sure you have clearance.
i know one of my boards has a cap that would hit that!

looking at the foto btw, only one socket is VGA compatable, the other is digital-only.
that may not matter - it depends on your monitors.

yes, i know the dell link, but the page wont render because it's badly written - no surprise for dell.

btw, HDMI is just DVI with added audio and an inferior cheap crappy connector (and license fee to the HDMI consortium/mafia)

                  Re: video card help

Weirdly the Dell link works but the Amazon ones don't.
There shouldn't be any issue running multiple monitors off the different ports, i have a GTX460 and have one on VGA, HDMI and DVI.
I have also run two graphics cards on my other board providing monitor support for four monitors (the graphics cards had two outputs.)

Thanks diiff; my motherboard on lenovothinkcenter 71 is this what other Video card can i add it has a mini pci ,and will it work in paralel with the existing Ati HD 6450 that is in the only 16x express pci slot,

i have an Intel Hd 2000 integrated card but when i connected the AGP ATI hd 6450 card did disable it automatically ,so how come if i connect another video card in the mini PCI slot,it will not disable the existing ati HD 6450?

                      Re: video card help

When using a graphics card the onboard graphics gets disabled.
Yes you can run a PCI-Expressx1 graphics card as well as your HD 6450 on the PCI-Express x16 slot, there are a few to choose from but they won't be as strong graphically as the bandwidth is less.

                        i'm not promising anything,
but some x16 cards will run on a single channel.

there is a site i was on the other day where a guy wanted to put a gfx card on a board wihout x16 and he melted away the end of the pci-e connector to plug the card in and it worked!

                          Re: video card help

yeah PCI-E is built to be backwards and forwards compatible. Infact, I took a 8400 and dremiled off half of the slot, counted the number of pins to be at x8 for a poweredge 1800 (only x8 slot). It actually worked, until I loaded the drivers. I think the PCI-E power on that board is limited to drawing for a SAS card, not a video card, but it did boot with the video just fine (till windows loaded with the drivers)

a few motherboards have an open ended smaller slots to allow bigger slot cards

It's not a power issue but bandwidth.

                                Re: video card help

There will be no sound with that card and it's lacking the DMS-59 cable that is requires.
You'd be better off sending the HDMI signal to the TV as it does sound and it's a bigger screen.
