I repair TV's on the side, and right now I have two fully functional 1080p 42" LG TV's. Both have their good and bad features. Here are the critical specs for each:
42LD550
4.5 years old (-)
150,000:1 DCR (-)
120Hz (+)
LCD panel (-)
Network capable + wireless (+)
Not 3D (-)
4x HDMI, 2x composite, 2x component, 2x USB, headphones and optical (-)
42LM3700
2.5 years old (+)
3,000,000:1 DCR (+)
60Hz (-)
LED Panel (+)
No network capability (-)
3D (+)
2x HDMI, 0x composite, 1x component, 1x USB, no headphones, optical out (-)
I do not watch 3D and the network content on the other one is limited (useless). I like the 120Hz, but I also like the 3M:1 DCR and LED panel with extra ports. I will watch movies on it so bout 120Hz and LED with 3M:1 DCR would be nice, but they are not on same TV.
I feel that 42LD550, even though older, is better TV. Thought, suggestions?
Thanks
Peter
