    Re: whats the better board for medium gaming..

    <since you're using an external video card>

    The Athlon X4 beats the shit out of the 3300. If you're looking for price/mark as far as processing power is concerned (since you're using an external video card) intel beats amd.

    A celeron G1820 is $44, with 2852 marks
    An A6-5400k FM2 is the same price with 2137

    APU scores are different story, AMD tends to win, but since you're using a seperate video card, CPU scores are what matter

    The X4-620 marks 2974 is average about $100
    The i3-4160 marks 5024 is about $120 (talk about bang for your buck)!

    And it looks like you're willing to spend about $100 on a motherboard. You can get a wonderful Z97 motherboard (all nichicon polymers)

      Not always...
      Especially in the lower price range, Intel isn't that good. And AMD not that bad...

      Both are just Dual Cores. Wouldn't by a dual core for gaming anymore!!

      NOT
      Because the performance of the CPU depends on the programs he uses.
      If they are massively parallel, AMD isn't that bad...

      Who buys a X4-620 anymore?!
      You'd buy an Athlon X4 740-760(K) or an X4-840 or 860K.
      The Athlon X4 620 is a propus core -> Phenom 2 without L3 cache.
      That thing is a couple of years old (was introduced around 2009).
      Don't you think it's a bit unfair to not mention the age of the CPU and compare it to a modern processor?!

      ...and why not even buy a Z170?
      Or take a look at what AMD has to offer...

      Anyway:
      It makes more sense to spend more money on the CPU than the board.
      A Celeron G1820 on a Z97 Board is just bullshit. Does not make sense at all...

      You'd spend most of the money on the CPU as the CPU gives you more performance. The Board just some features you may not need or can not use.
      A Z97 Board is only worth it, if you have an unlocked K-CPU.

        Re: whats the better board for medium gaming..

        thanks for the info.. but i think you guys went on a different path....
        i already own these two boards an cpus i just wanted to know which option is better...
        an should i use my vid card or not...

        i mean should i use my biostar board or the MSI... Should i use the integrated vid card or my own vid card.. thats where i need advice...
        my vid card is a hd 7750 1gig but its a mem band with 64bit...
        the msi an biostar vid cards are 512ddr3 with 128bit... i think thats what they have not sure at this moment.....an with more memory the vid card mem will increase...??

        i run win 7....

          Re: whats the better board for medium gaming..

          the 6410 has more GPU power (its APU, not motherboard based) and more power than the video card. but its still pretty low. Not sure it can run hybrid crossfire

          the motherboard with the 880 has a Radeon 4250 and its pretty low.

            I was talking about the i3 on the z97 board, but yeah I see some mid-range FM2's do beat the i3 and surrounding cpus
