Topcat- question regarding Windows XP on the sx270

When you had SX270's available, you said that they were loaded fresh with a non-dell copy of Windows XP SP3, but using the included COAs. How did you accomplish this? I have a slew of Gateway PCs that I'm trying to load. They all have XP Pro CoA's on them, but when I try to use the codes to load windows XP Pro, it says that I've entered an invalid product code.

Now, I've used a generic Windows XP Home CD on machines like Dells that had XP home CoA's, with success. Why can't I use these XP Pro CoA's?

I just had a thought. It's probably because the CD that I have is a XP Pro Corp disc, intended for use with VLK's. I'll try a standard XP Pro CD, if I can find one.

How much PCs is a slew? If all of them are the same model, you may be interested in researching about royalty OEM xp install disks.

I found that it was the disk I was using. XP Pro Corp uses a different licensing structure than the regular XP Pro, which is why it wouldn't recognize the COAs. Found an XP Pro non-corp disk and everything worked great.

I know, I was just hoping I could use my corp disk with these PCs while using the key off the COA's. Doesn't work that way. I'm selling the machines, so I want to make sure they're loaded with their own keys, not my VLK!
