Your RTC has stopped or the interrupt timer is damaged. Replace the coin battery.
---off topic---
I really don't get why an RTC freezing can cause so many problems.... My first port of COREBOOT crashed the RTC, but the rest of the system was fine... Besides dmesg getting spammed, anyway.
Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

Excuse me while i do something dangerous
You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.
Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore
If "Timer Error" shows up during BIOS in the preboot, this likely means the 8254 interval counter chip failed. However there are virtually no PCs with a discrete 8254 anymore, they're embedded inside the southbridge. This chip is distinct from the RTC however.
If the error is happening during OS boot, perhaps it's assuming the availability of HPET but not the PIT (8254) chip.
A photo of the error may be useful to figure out what's really going on...
