Re: Anybody here still uses Win 7?
I still have 7 on several machines, including my office system. I am still getting security updates for it.
FWIW, this post was made from WinXP on a P4 system with Firefox 24.8.1<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Of course, any respectable Badcaps user would not touch anything newer than Windows 7 with a 100 foot barge pole!

Windows 7, was the latest Windows version I ever used on my socket 1366 system. The same with socket 775, of course.ASRock B550 PG Velocita

Re: Anybody here still uses Win 7?
I haven't made the 'linux leap' because of all the utilities I need. WINE is such a hassle for running anything... If all I needed was a web browsing/emailing/letter typer, Mint can't be beat...unfortunately I demand more from my computers.<--- Badcaps.net Founder

Re: Anybody here still uses Win 7?
I could never get anything to work in Wine.
I'm actually using Windows 10 , but at least I don't like it. I'm tired of constantly fighting with it changing random settings or nagging me to stop using Firefox. Microsoft has the nerve to claim that your computer is "all yours" on the "switch to Edge" nag screen you get after updates.
I do occasionally use some Linux software as well, but a Linux VM in VirtualBox boots up at some stupid low resolution. It was 1024x667 for a while, but now it's 800x600. The update that was supposed to fix that didn't do anything.

Re: Anybody here still uses Win 7?
All of my workstations at home run windows 10. Laptops (short of two bay trail tablets with modded 8.1) are are dualbooted with 10 (or 7, one with 7 and XP x32) and Arch Linux (I mainly use Arch). Server runs Debian. At work we have a lot of legacy stuff running 7 (and IT either doesn't know about or hasn't got to upgrading/shitcanning ). We're luddites...Last edited by ratdude747; 12-17-2021, 09:27 AM.sigpic

One day I'm going to find a motherboard with SATA 6gb and AGP. Get an old video card in there and install windows 98 on a Seagate FirecudaCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/

Re: Anybody here still uses Win 7?
Not Windows 7, but I've had a trash-find Core 2 Duo for years and it still runs Vista. Naturally, I tweaked it so the OS is actually usable and fast (no background BS etc.), unlike the default Vista straight out of the box.
The only issue is the lack of modern browsers, as Firefox 52 ESR can't load a lot of websites these days, either due to failing to render JavaScript elements or the site itself having an a$$hole script that blocks "unsupported" browsers.

Re: Anybody here still uses Win 7?
I've still got Windows 7 on my main desktop (and it will probably stay that way until 3rd party application and browser support eventually dies off) and a few "secondary" systems. My main personal Laptop and work Laptop are on Windows 10 though. Overall, I still much prefer 7 to 10.
