To check this there is for example the tool "SLIC Dump ToolKit"
A google search will find it, current latest is v3.2

Windows 7 now says "Product Is Activated"...LOL
I used something called a "Loader" from that site Sudum posted. Thanks Sudum! Thanks to everyone! Now is it safe for me to do Ms Updates or do I still stay away from that?

Could it have something to do with MS update KB 971033?

If you use a loader or other hack you need to avoid 971033. If you use a SLIC BIOS mod then 971033 works fine as long as you don't use the one blacklisted key.

              Re: Windows 7

Ok no more MS updates. The win7 sure did make reprograming this thing simple. Most of the things I used with Xp are not needed with win 7. There again I wish I had a PC that was powerful enough to run Win7 in its "Xp like" mode... I still say Xp was cut down in its prime right after most of its problems had been somewhat fixed. Now its being sent kicking and screaming all the way to the old folks OS home. Don't let me turn this into a debate of Xp vs Win7. We have that going on in other threads here already.
In the past I was a big fan of Windows ME. I guess when I switched up to Xp from ME I felt about the same way as I do now going from Xp to Win7. I've used Xp so long that I know where most anything needed is at in the progie. Xp was a fine Country house with many rooms with many hallways and logical navigation for the most part. With this Win7 I feel like I was blindfolded and dropped in some major city without a map or a compass. I am finding my way around now somewhat.

No, you should still install updates, just not 971033. On all the Win 7 PCs I've ever seen it's unselected by default so it's easy to avoid. Just tell it to hide the update and you won't have to worry about it again.
