  • A2141 Not powering on - case study

This is a case study on a 'sudden death' A2141 unit brought in for service.

    USB-C meter is @ 5v with ~0A current draw.

    a) Disconnected battery. No power to the machine. Applied the Qianli Tail tester with the USB-C connector. Each USB-C power connector was green with the diode mode of testing. CD321x are not defective as originally thought.

    b) PPBUS_g3h is not shorted but is a low voltage due to the low INPUT voltage of 5v being boosted. On a random power up attempt, PPBUS_g3h was at the expected 12v63 range AND input voltage was observed to be @ 20v for...

  • Thinkpad X390 (motherboard NM-B891 shared with other models) : battery sensor reporting wrong temperature -> sudden power off

I have a thinkpad X390 that would work fine if not for a problem: sensor temp5 (battery as far as I know) shows variable values over 100° C. When it reaches higher temps (I guess 110° as I was able to list temperatures up to 109°) it simply powers off. All other sensors show 0° except for the CPU which seems to report correct temperatures.

In a wishful thinking I hoped replacing the battery (as far as I know the temperature sensor is in the battery) would fix the problem, but it didn't.

Given this situation I can't even upgrade the firmware as the machine powers off...

  • I need rx570 powercolor boardview pls help me, thanks !!!

I have 5 faulty RX570 PowerColor VGA boards. All of them have the required power rails such as 0.9V, 1.8V, 1.5V for VRAM, and 3.3V for the bus. However, there is no 3.3V EN signal going to the VCCDI/VCORE power IC — it’s an IR chip, though I don’t remember the exact model. The fan doesn’t spin either. Unfortunately, I don’t have a boardview or schematic. Please help me. Thank you very much....

  • Samsung OLED QN77S90 Bad Power Supply

Hello, picked up this tv a nice Oled QN77S90. However, it's blowing fuses like crazy (got the whole room lights go out the first time). So i digged and it seems this tv has the BN44-01264A PSU that often fails. However, replacements are costly (samsung replaces it for the BN44-01329A revised psu).

I'd like to troubleshoot that one. Here is a picture of it, but honestly i don't know where to start. It blows a 12A fuse in a split second, it's really a hard short on this one. Thanks for any guidance ! ...

  • Samsung QN50Q6DTA

Hi I just picked up a Samsung QN50Q6DTA. The issues was a 2 red flashes on the power button as the TV tried to turn on. Power supply OK. Backlight LED OK. If I remove the data cable from panel , sound is ON. I was able to identify the issue within one side of the panel. Used the tape fix and I placed the tape on 4 pins on one side of the flat cable. The TV ran great for 4 days and then the same problem appeared again...2 red flashes on the power button LED. Took the back panel off again and this time mode the tape on a different location and now the TV is running again. Am I missing something?...
