Re: How different in size can you go for SMD capacitors?

Sometimes I lay a needle tip across the smd and lay something on it to apply a bit of pressure. the needle tip will hold the smd in place as the solder melts.

Re: UN55D6900 BN44-00428B partial led driver circuit failure

The voltage going high would mean the boost circuit is working, so the fault would seem to be in the led current monitoring.
It looks like current is monitored across R9265 (for dimch2) R9264 would...

Re: UN55D6900 BN44-00428B partial led driver circuit failure

Have you checked if D9251 is ok and not shorted? Also check R9253 (0.22Ω) to see if it is ok and not open.
Monitor the voltage on D9251 cathode to see if it ever gets above 126v, If it does spike to...

Re: Sharp LC-43LBU711C Rev.A wont turn on

You could check for poor solder connetions on the power supply, check the connections on components mounted to the heat sinks and also the transformer pin connections.
9.5v on the 12v line would...

Re: Sansui AU9500, capacitor blows

In one version the caps were .01f disc caps, and electrolytics in a different version.

Re: Sansui AU9500, capacitor blows

What are the LOCATION NUMBERS of the componemts that you changed ? Which capacitor is getting hot? C???? For a capacitor to get hot it is either in backwards or has way too much voltage across it.

Re: Ceramic capacitor from Samsung monitor 68K 1KV

It depends on the circuit, but if this is just a snubber cap, 100pf should be ok to replace the 68pf
The K should be 10% tolerance

Re: Fixing a laboratory waterbath

That is just a 1N4148 small signal diode, neither a zener or a diac

Re: Bad vizio v505-g9 backlight or video board.

45v is the led supply, which might be high indicating an open string. There seem to be 9 led's per string at 3v each would be 27v. The 4 return lines are 0 volts likely because the led driver is in...

Is it the sot23-5 next to the inductor? My first guess is a Torex XC9140A

Re: Fixing a laboratory waterbath

Based on what you said, this seems to be the configuration. You say 2 zener? are there 2 zeners? or only the one?
It is possible it is not a zener but a diac

Re: Fixing a laboratory waterbath

The triac is pulse controlled. There are control pulses on the primary side (from the control board) the triac has the gate and one MT connected to the secondary of the transformer. With no pulses...

Re: Fixing a laboratory waterbath

One thing that can happen with heating elements is they can short to ground when they heat up, the internal element expands and in some cases breaks through the insulation and shorts. This can burn a...

Re: Philips PUS6501 - no picture

So just to be clear, you changed both Q8101 and Q8102, correct? Usually when there are internment backlights it is one of the led's or one of the connections in the panel that is at fault.
IC8101...

Re: Sharp LC-80LE632U 2-5 blink code

Re: Philips PUS6501 - no picture

This is impossible, the backlights can not operate if the voltage on Q8101 Drain is 2v. R8101 (0.1Ω) supplies 385vdc to Q8101 Drain

Like I said If Q8101 was shorted, Q8102 may have been damaged so...

Re: Fixing a laboratory waterbath

The transformer may step up the pulse from the drive circuit, but it could also be for isolation, isolating the driver board from the triac which would be connected to the ac line.

Re: Fixing a laboratory waterbath

I was also thinking about this and I suspect it is a pulse transformer and not a relay. Likely similar to a Schurter IL series
What is your plan for the transformer with the leads ripped out?

Re: Fixing a laboratory waterbath

Now that I see the under side of the board, that to220 is likely a +5volt regulator ic and not the relay driver. The relay is driven by the heater control board so that would need to be traced to...

You need to post a clear (in focus) high res, picture of the trace side of the board the relay is mounted on.
