Re: netflix, the network destoryer

Or you know... you could just block the netflix domain since you own the router... or throttle it down to unwatchable.

Re: AMD AM2 motherboards Ram Shorted

Not ALL of them. I should hit that board next when I find the CPU. But why would caps appear shorted and have 0 ESR and then be fine out of circuit?

I fixed the HP board because another suspect...

I have 2 AMD AM2 motherboards that have been confusing the heck out of me. In both something is shorted in the ram section. I checked out the mosfets and the caps but short remains.

Re: Sure way to tell when chipset (or any other BGA chip for that matter) is burnt on

Scope... some boards have pads near the chip. See if voltage is going into it.

Re: Software Network traffic monitor

Re: Software Network traffic monitor

IPtables works when you set up all individual rules there is nothing dynamic about it. I don't know whats going to be connecting out and I'm not going to sit there and edit a text file to get it...

Eset smart security... the firewall is tops. Also I used to use outpost pro but it got unstable and I switched.

Re: Reballing does NOT mean it'll last long!

My mindset is fix it until you get tired of taking it apart :)

Re: Why Ubuntu and Windows 8 do/will fail.

Its all part of the dumbening. The race to turn computers into a prole consumption device.

Ubuntu, Windows 8, OSx will all be walled gardens if the current crop of "designers" have their way.

Re: Reballing does NOT mean it'll last long!

NV-8400 is a dog. I think there is something internally wrong with those chips besides the BGA. Other reflowed stuff lasts longer in my experience.

Re: Xbox RROD succesfully fixed plus modded

The only thing we manufacture now is financial products. If you think China's physical products are junk....

Re-balling is too much work.

Re: iMACs

Lol, nobody doing osx86. Not just apple making all in one computers. OSX should run on most C2D+ computers as long as the graphics card is compatible.

Re: Xbox RROD succesfully fixed plus modded

Fuck, so much bad advice.

Reflow by unplugging the fans is not a reflow at all. You may damage the procs on the board.

1000f heat gun is going to warp your board or do a shit job reflowing. The...

The likelihood of that is slim to nil. I don't think more than a handful of child porn types around.. that's why it always makes the news.

More likely that someone cards using your connection or...

Re: Do 1999 brand-new-nerver-used quality caps get old?

Strange. Did you measure ESR? Maybe somehow they dried out because of conditions or desoldering. I just pulled a bunch of SHIIIIITTTYY luxon 1000uf/10v caps that still have low esr and not shorted....
