Re: Pin 8 on the bios is shorted to ground

Check again if your wire is heating up. Shorten your wire if possible. Inspect using microscope if you have, could be a shorted large cap or the PCH is busted. You might need to leave it for 5-15...

Re: Pin 8 on the bios is shorted to ground

You should observe a warming up of component at least, unless the short is below 1 ohms. Also replace the wire you use for injecting 3.3v. You need a larger diameter wire or else, nothing will heat...

Re: Samsung RV420 wont turn on

Most likely, the high side MOSFET is leaky, possibly the culprit is the one that destroyed your tantalum caps. Also check the CPU, it might be affected, too.

This is a common problem with this laptop, I have 2 boards (same board code as you) with this same problem. I'm guessing CPU replacement will fix the problem.

Did other guys already tried...

Re: hp pavillion dv6-2010sv won't post

When you attach a USB keyboard, does the capslock LED blinks?
Do you get 3.3v at pin22 (PLTRST#) CN5?

Re: Acer Aspire 5810T Completely dead, no lights at all.

There's a button (SW2, page 10 in the schematic), you can push it force 3V/5V_EN to go HIGH.

Have you checked U62, U61, U60, AND U59 for leaks or shorts?

Re: compaq CQ43 cant on list volt measured

You mentioned in your original post that pin 16 has 19v. Did I misunderstood it?

Anyway, if VIN at U1001 is 2.54v then check its resistance to ground. If the reading is very low resistance, this...

Re: Compaq620 no 5v 3v in coil.

if EN pin is HIGH, then REF, VREG5 and VREG3 should give their respective voltages - 2v, 5v and 3.3v.

Also check pin 23 PGOOD if it is giving you 3.3v.

Re: Compaq620 no 5v 3v in coil.

You should check if there is a voltage at pin 13 of U6000. Even if you got all the other pins voltages normal, without proper voltage at pin 13, L6001 and L6000 won't give you 3.3v and 5v.

Re: compaq CQ43 cant on list volt measured

1. Resistance of R0906 with respect to ground?
1. pin4 of Q0906 is connected to R0930 but your measurement on pin 4 of Q0906 IS 1.8v and R0930 is measured as 9.67v? Please check this measurement...
