Re: ESR meter upgrades

How does one calibrate the crystal or is it dependent on the crystal being accurate? Can crystal errors be calibrated to some NIST traceable source?

Re: ESR meter upgrades

And how accurate is the crystal or is it using the on-chip oscillator, that thing really should be calibrated too...not sure if atmel^H^H^H^H^H^H microchip tunes those to 1ppm?

Re: ESR meter upgrades

Ah so the actual value doesn't matter and you don't need to "enter" the value in...? interesting. I guess with accurate "T" and "R" you can still find accurate "C".

Will be interesting to compare...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

How much calibration do these need anyway, these devices vary so much that we need 0.1% capacitors to calibrate them? Uhoh.

2F capacitor? (I've hated "mF" for F even though they've done this...

Re: Finally built the Bob Parker "Blue" ESR Meter

Interesting the "old" table seems to include some compensation to limited testing frequency, but the "new" graphs do not...

Now to attach a table to the AVR transistortester ... heh...

Re: B&K Precision 1604A Isolation Transformr,120Vac,150Va,1Phase Feedback wanted

True, I hate moving the 350VA unit around, heavy and nowhere to get a good grip on it, dropping it on your foot when moving it will sure do some damage...

Re: The ghetto mod thread

Dammit. Shattered my GPU's fan when cleaning it today. Don't stop the moving train.

Ended up using zip ties to attach a standard 80mm fan to the shroud. I suspect I still needed to use the...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

Hmm so it looks like it might sort of distinguish a germanium compared to a schottky actually... but it can't do it directly at least as of yet...

Re: Soldering Bliss...

Yeah, chances are whatever it's made of will dissolve in the gallium. No different than mercury which would do the same, but mercury boils off at much lower temperature, much closer to soldering...

Re: Soldering Bliss...

Well, at least it won't boil off at soldering temperatures and soft enough (with hand temperatures) to spread it around!

Re: B&K Precision 1604A Isolation Transformr,120Vac,150Va,1Phase Feedback wanted

Depends on what you want to do with it, yes, you can't use it for isolating 300W PSU at full load but for smaller devices and loads it should be fine.

Would work fine for a AA5 radio.

I have a...

If you're curious now, do you have any germanium transistors and just stick in two terminals?

speaking of which... can it tell the difference between a Schottky diode vs Germanium?

However the claim was incorrect, even you indicated something was wrong. I don't think there was any undeserved replies here, I'm tired of reading "fake news" that were just parroting what vendors...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

How widespread are the "44 pin" units? Which specific microcontrollers qualify for these? Seen any specific models with them?

Since it seems that there are so many mega328 units out there,...

Re: Getting lucky mixing DDR modules?

You can have your 4096 bit x1 memory. It's really high density. Just pass by that 64Mx8 low density chip.

Re: Kind of a different question...

Really doesn't matter if it's AC or not, just matters how much absolute current can pass through. Ideally that capacitor is small enough (in capacitance) that no more than 1mA will pass through or...

Re: Getting lucky mixing DDR modules?

So you gave misleading and incorrect answers. Now to finally get the correct declarations out there:

- 128M is not the same as x128.
- 128M does not declare density.
- 128Mbit is a density, but...
