Re: laptop vs desktop rust spinner longevity

Re: Cleaning Motherboards - ATTN SMOKERS!!

Yes, it works....I done this to LGA socketed boards. You just have to be very careful of the socket. If using an air compressor for the initial dry-out, don't hit the socket with a lot of pressure...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I probably wasted more time on this than it was worth.....but every time a piece of audio gear that was high end gets shredded, a little piece of my soul dies..... It seems the younger generation...

Re: Topcat's Other Misc Weird Build Thread

I did notice that the onboard GPU has 1mb RAM and 2 sockets for another 1mb in RAM chips; 2mb total... Makes me want to pull the millennium, add another 1mb to the onboard and then toss a voodoo1...

Re: What are the 'actual' effects of old electrolytics in a vintage radio?

That's what I've always experienced. I rebuilt an old Emerson 'lifetimer' radio from 1963-ish with the usual 60Hz hum.....I don't know why I wasted my time on it....but the clock worked, so I went...

Re: Attention Mac Junkies - Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) build

Mac's don't have a traditional 'bios' menu like a PC....so it's not a timings setting.... I'll play musical memory slots with it tomorrow.

Re: Attention Mac Junkies - Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) build

Re: Attention Mac Junkies - Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) build

Dual CPU card was a success. It came with a pair of quadcore 2.26GHz Nehalem CPU's and 32gb RAM. This now clears the way for the 3.46GHz x5690's...the fun to come; they have to be delidded.....but...

Re: Attention Mac Junkies - Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) build

Being it's now a 5,1 by firmware (hardware-wise the 4,1 and 5,1 are identical), the 'High Sierra' test was also successful. The final conquest for this hardware-wise is the dual CPU card.....and...
