i found that sometimes you could only do one device, but other times it could take 15 or 30 minutes before it complained.
the randomness is probably intentional to make it hard to find.

they all do it, but it's random.
i never tried to fix it because i only needed to do a couple of chips at a time.
it's a second check routine.

lamps in parallel will allow more current.
lamps in series are pointless unless they are the wrong voltage.
i mentioned 2 in series because i thought you were going to do it with the 240v side and...

actually it looks like the ceramic cap infront of the chip has been broken away from the board on one end.

the limit is the lamps - so in that instance, 100w
at 240v that would be about 400mA

your just trying to stat the power supply's and not run the whole unit at this time.

it's 35v rated, but it cant be seeing more than 12.
i personally would use a 25v tantalum cap.
no point trying to fit another smd electrolytic - they are all junk and unless you have hot-tweezers...
