Re: Acer GR235H partially losing backlight

Replaced the caps with some equivalent Panasonics, monitor has been running fine for 24 hours continuously on 100% brightness. Hopefully it lasts.

Re: PS4 WLOD troubleshooting

Just as a follow up to this, I've given up on this board - still WLOD after two IC replacements and I cannot for the life of me find anything wrong with the circuit. Going to flip it on ebay.

Re: PS4 WLOD troubleshooting

Hi guys, another question on this before I change the IC again. Has anyone got any idea why I'd be getting 2.2V on the bottom-right pin of the SOT-23 component near the purple square if that leg is...

Re: Soldering with a tremor.

It is yep - annoyingly it's the type that gets worse when your hand muscles are tensed! I usually have to stabilise the iron with both hands, but of course that makes it really difficult to keep...

Soldering with a tremor.

Has anyone else here got a tremor? I have benign essential tremor and it really screws up my ability to do any kind of fine soldering. I've gotten a little better at it over time but it's still a...

Re: Acer X223HQ washed out colours

I have the GR235H still yeah - it's still in pieces, waiting for caps to arrive before I work on the backlight.

Re: Acer X223HQ washed out colours

Anyone got any ideas before I launch this one?

Also daft question - do I actually need to replace the foil tape that I had to peel off? It seems like the entire chassis is held to the display by...

Re: PS4 WLOD troubleshooting

HDMI socket is all fine, 5GND and 13 connections with the IC removed from the board. I replaced the HDMI IC, no luck but I think I may have cooked it as I had a really rough time getting the chip...

Re: List of pin compatible Laptop ICs

Just a follow up, I fitted the ADP151 today and it seems to be working absolutely fine.

Re: PS4 WLOD troubleshooting

Cheers, I'll take a look if I have no luck! I've replaced the HDMI encoder today but can't test it yet because I'm still waiting for the other component... I'm worried I might have killed the chip as...

Re: PS4 WLOD troubleshooting

Thanks, I believe I've checked everything with the HDMI pins and can't seem to find any issue. I've ordered a new encoder IC and a part that I think will replace the one I shorted on the back.

Re: List of pin compatible Laptop ICs

I have what I believe is an NCP511SN25T1G (https://eu.mouser.com/datasheet/2/308/NCP511-D-1812788.pdf), which is a 2.5V output LDO in a SOT-23-5 package - is this interchangeable with either an...

Re: PS4 WLOD troubleshooting

I've since taken some voltage readings (attached). Unfortunately after taking those readings and because I am still learning (read: absolutely hopeless at this) I shorted something and the board went...

PS4 WLOD troubleshooting

So between two monitors, various adapters and now my PS4 dying on me, I think it's fair to say I'm having a bad run of it :duh:

My PS4 Slim F-chassis (CUH-2216A, board SAF-003) just went WLOD...

Re: More weird HDMI problems...

Oh christ I just plugged my PS4 into the repeater and I'm now getting no picture on any monitor I plug it into. Has this thing just killed my PS4?

Edit - starting a new thread, system is 100% WLOD...

Re: More weird HDMI problems...

Yep I believe this is it - a split second after posting this (as always seems to be the case!) I realised I have one of those cheap passive HDMI repeaters. If I put that in place of the coupler all...

More weird HDMI problems...

I gave up on the HDMI splitter and started switching the cables manually using a coupler. I'm having issues with the following configuration:

HP 24fw --> HDMI cable #1 --> Coupler --> HDMI cable...

Re: HDMI switch handshake issues?

That would make a lot of sense, but unfortunately setting to HDMI doesn't fix the issue for me. Killing the power to both devices seems to be the only way to get it working again.

Re: HDMI switch handshake issues?

Latest one unfortunately! Only workaround I've been able to find is setting "Monitor Off:" to "Never" in power options. Not ideal but it does the trick.

Re: HDMI switch handshake issues?

1. Surprisingly yes it does,
2. Nothing on the second HDMI output at the moment,
3. Unfortunately not - only DDC/CI settings and they don't seem to affect the problem,

Cheers

HDMI switch handshake issues?

Hi all,

Got a bit of an odd problem with my setup. I have a cheapo 3 in/2 duplicate out HDMI splitter (this one (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Max-Value-3x2-HDMI-Splitter/dp/B0068FSI3C)). One output is...
