Re: Bad Caps in the Movies !!!!!!

And, I thought that was exciting in a strange way, when I saw bad caps for real at a PC recycling place in Windsor, Vermont, probably back in 2008 and 2009!

Re: Amish Computer - No, this is not a joke!

The first broad interpretation, one day in June, 2014, IIRC, literally caused me to get depressed for the rest of the day and go back to bed, thinking that I'm going to get sent to hell! Was thinking...

Re: Amish Computer - No, this is not a joke!

Sounds like the config files are locked like Fort Knox! So you couldn't change them to allow mounting and opening of external drives.

Re: Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 300 Bios corrupted

I don't know, but I saw behavior similar to that with a bad CPU socket. (minus it power cycling itself)

Re: Manufacturing Date of Electrolytic capcitor

The AICtech caps, look like 1982, in American date format. We, over here, have been used to using WWYY instead of the internationally-known YYWW order.

Re: Light bulb flicker when turning on after long time off.

Confirmed, yesterday, I saw Poland for the longer T8s and India for the longer T12s. I went into the West Lebanon, New Hampshire Home Depot with my father and a moron almost slammed into me, when...

Re: Cap replacement on a GA-8KNXP motherboard

I guess this means that 6.3V is the usual lowest voltage rating and thus, you just go ahead and use 6.3V-rated caps for a rail as low as 1V.

Re: Cap replacement on a GA-8KNXP motherboard

So those caps are after the +12 volt is dropped down, but before the final stages. But, on that schematic, looks like 6.3V-rated caps are indeed used for the Vcore output.

Re: Cap replacement on a GA-8KNXP motherboard

Pentium 4 motherboards, usually run the Vcore from +12V, not +5V, unlike socket 462 and socket 370. I was thinking that 3300uF 6.3V caps were mainly on socket 462 and socket 370 motherboards. The...

Re: Asus GTX980Ti and MSI GTX980 with the same odd problem

And suspect that failures are also due to the "0 RPM" feature.

Re: Samsung UN70NU6900FXZA PSU failure?

Looks like 2019 or 2020! It wouldn't surprise me if the panel was made in 2019, but regardless, this is way too premature!

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

That "reserved" thing is a stupid "feature" introduced with Vista, most likely.

And that APM thing, where it acts like a 486 motherboard, makes me suspect a BIOS integer overflow bug.

Reminds...

Re: The longest you've ever used a single system?

X86, per-se, isn't a dead architecture, because AMD introduced X86-64 and Intel introduced EMT 64. But, of course, the original X86 arch, will get killed off, most notably i386, i486 and i586. Heck I...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

And, in the mid-2010s, I discovered KZG-series caps on my 2004 Asus A7N8X-X bulging and leaking like volcanoes! They were suddenly spewing at the vents!

Re: Samsung QLED TV disassembly....impossible?

Looks like only phones, SSDs and RAM from Samsung now!

I got two defective Samsung NU6900 series TVs in-a-row!

Re: Vizio D55un-E1, bad Q9100, C9100 & R9111, parts ordering questions

Arrgh! For brown, I see black! Wouldn't be surprised if it's monitor calibration time, despite at least using sRGB. I guess default sRGB sucks!

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

From 2005? 2004 and 2005 seem to be the worst years for KZG! (possibly followed by 2006)

Re: Topcat's Acer Dual Slot 1 Server? - The Acer Altos 1100

Does HP really make HDDs or rebadge them, like Dell with CRTs?

I've been wondering if those 15K RPM HDDs are IBM/HGSTs...
