Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

why touch r26 or d7??
good luck with the buck convertor if it's max input is 24v - it may last but who knows.

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

the 7805 is fine, you dont need to upgrade the y-class either.

all i remember doing was the 2 resistors and the electrolytics + the zener on the other board.

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

so,
R11 - 27k(OVP) change to 20k 0805
R24 - 4.42k(voltage reference) change to 3.4k 0805

i'v been running 24v for several years and not damaged the optocoupler
the caps you need are panasonic...

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

R24,
russians replaced it with 3k6 for 23v
un1qu3 bridged the original 4.42k with 91k

3k3 is going to give well over 24v

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

your as bad as the russians!

what to put in place of R11??
you previously said put 15k in parallel with the 27k factory part.

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

looking at my notes from russia, i suspect it's R1 or R14 needs to be messed with.

i have this line "parallel to the current resistor in the primary we add a resistor to 2.7 ohms"
nice & vague,...

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

probably surprisingly good.
chinese c(r)aps actually often have decent specs, the problem is the unreliable lifespan.
i may have listed the specs in my review.

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

looking at the fet datasheet and the controller schem, you should use a 12v zener - or even a 14v one.
at 5v the gate resistance is twice what it is at 10v.

if your going to clamp the gate pullup...

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

my thoughts are no.
if your increasing the output then your increasing the ripple as the tip switches, so you really dont want to be reducing the ripple handling - and that is going to be tied to...

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

output voltages are on the connector leading to the controller/display pcb - look at the schematics i posted.

btw, if any cap is going to fit, it's a Panasonic FS

Re: Bakon 950D "Extra Crispy" mod (19->24 Volt)

the reason for the name is simple, everybody knows that everything is better with bakon. :D

btw, the output caps are 25v rated - get ready for the boom!
and very few 35v rated ones will fit -...
