Re: New to me PC, CPU Choice?

Re: Emerson LC391EM3 - Constant High Pitch Sound

That Emerson TV, looks like shit! Sure not like the Emerson plasma TV that we have here!

Also, you're describing a squealing sound, like my PowMax LPxxxx series 300W PSU, (back when Leadman didn't...

Re: ZFS Questions

512 bytes is the legacy sector format. Thus, SSDs most likely have 1024-byte (1 KB) sectors, if not 4 KB.

Re: GIGABYTE GA-H81M-DS2 REV: 3.0 Constant Power Cycling

While I don't know about remembering any power-cycling, (unlike an MSI during a BIOS update) Gigabyte motherboards are infamous for this, since at least the FX era looking like it's going to outright...

Re: New to me PC, CPU Choice?

I never saw the 8310s. For heatsinks, I would give this a try, as CoolerMaster heatsinks can be difficult to install:

Re: New to me PC, CPU Choice?

So, you couldn't even get a Pinnacle Ridge (second-gen Ryzen) or a Summit Ridge (first-gen Ryzen) build? (socket AM4) (socket AM4 is the first to use DDR4, while Intel did, since Skylake (Skylake was...

Re: Why does my Seasonic SSR-500GB3 whine??

I'm wondering if it's not even made by Seasonic. Looks like it could be L&C.

Re: Light bulb flicker when turning on after long time off.

Well, I went there and I'm at the highest risk of getting the " 'rona " so far! (That is, especially if I got virus particles in my eyes!) (I double-masked)
I shouldn't even have asked about the T5...

Re: windows 7

Well, that bug bit me a lot on fresh installs! At least for certain updates from 2011, IIRC, I apparently have to install them "pseudo-NT4-style" as a workaround!
(chronological order)

This is...

Re: windows 7

Unfortunately, the 7 WU is infamous for error code 0x80080005 with what I believed I traced to certain early-2010s' major updates, when not installed one at a time with a reboot after each!

Re: Panasonic TX-L50B6B screen "blotches"

Also watch out for a symptom that seems to be more common now, blue-and-purple backlight LEDs!

Especially LCD TVs built in 2016 and around there. But it's possible that the problem is still...

That's as big as a game! At least roughly the same ballpark as PC Halo MCC! Almost as big as GTA V! LOL!

Re: P4i65G motherboard

Familiar with that WD HDD gen, it's clearly from the socket 775 era. (most likely the same era as 65nm Core2)

IIRC, that's a 250 GB 7 K HDD. (232 GiB)

Re: Topcat's XPS 625 Supermicro X8SAX Revival; First 2021 Build!

I remember back in 2008, the best I could afford, was a PSU with Teapo and Ost. (The FSP 500W that I had for 8 years, before I gave it away with a PC)

Now, a PSU is usually on my ban list for...

Re: Topcat's XPS 625 Supermicro X8SAX Revival; First 2021 Build!

Could anything even be quite as bad as the CWT Antecs in the mid-2000s?
I regularly saw them with a bulging Fukyyu cap! LOL!

Re: Hp elitebook 840 g5 security alert

Why "Capital One"? That looks like malware!

Looks like a fake security alert, like you would get from going to compromised web sites.
