Re: a1708/820-00840 dead CPU?

PPBUS_G3H although higher voltage, feeds via current sense resistor to the power FET's driving the CPU. So when using voltage injection, it's best to err on the low side like 1V.

So 1V and thermal...

Re: Please help: Asus fx506l no power

Check the larger caps around the EC for voltage in standby. One or more should have +3.3V. Some designs don't switch on +3.3V till enabled by the EC. Logic voltage is usually provided by a LDO output...

Re: Dell Inspiron 7560 randomly powering off

In my experience turn on followed by shutdown is usually due to a missing power rail. Check the board closely under a microscope for corrosion. Had 3 this week with corrosion around various buck...

Check the Touchbar connector for damage if a home handyman job. It's right next to one of the hinges. Rossman had a PSA about it a while back.

Re: Missing PP5V_S4RS3 on 820-00165-A

PM_SLP_S4_L is pretty critical. Refer to Piernov's link above for the flow chart for the pre-requisites to get that signal.

But since you are dealing with a 820-00165 board, check to see if you...

Re: MacBook A1502 EMC 2835 820-4924-A dies when installing firmware update

I bought a Macbook Air off eBay as not working. It actually powered up ok. I noted that they had Big Sur loaded, but the EFI firmware was ancient (182.0.0.0). So I tried reloading MAC OS, and it had...

Re: Troubleshooting dead Apple MacBook Pro A1398 (820-00426-A)

Check your rails for shorts. I've been led up the garden path with the POST beep codes, only to find it was a short on a ancillary power rail.

Re: Troubleshooting dead Apple MacBook Pro A1398 (820-00426-A)

PM_BATLOW_L is generated by the SMC, based on comms to the ISL6259 charger IC. If no battery is connected, then SMC should assert high on PM_BATLOW_L. It'll establish that by comms with the ISL chip...
