Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Scored 3 more smartphones:
- Galaxy S6 Edge, G925F - BTU stock ROM, so probably a UK import. Runs fine, has no issues so far.
- Galaxy S7 Edge, G935F - originally had a T-Mobile International ROM...

Re: Post your system.......
Happy to announce three builds that I've managed to get done over the span of about a week or so.
Build 1:
MB - Lucky Tech P5MVP3
CPU - AMD K6-II+ 500MHz (forgot exact model printed but it's a...

Re: Topcat's Ultimate Pentium 4 Retro Gamer!
Considering most of the parts do look really big (from main caps all the way to the main transformer and output torroid - the last one is a thicc ass boi I see), I would do a recap on the secondary...

Re: Topcat's Ultimate Pentium 4 Retro Gamer!
Could be a 40 or 42 size transformer (did any manufacturer ever go past 40?) which is rather surprising. Some of Leadman/Sun Pro units also did that from what I recall. Small BJT and standby...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
It will be good for 200W continuous. Again, that's a 28 size transformer you have there, not a 35 and not a 33 either. I've actually desoldered one of those fake 35 labeled size 28 trafos from an...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
200W.
I'll say this as long as necessary - don't be fooled about the ERL-35-2005 labeling and the transformer shape - that is a rounded ERL-28 transformer which Deer uses to fool people into...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Scored these yesterday:
- PSP 1003 w/ bad screen (not cracked)
- Samsung NP-R610H (C2D T5800, GF 9200M GS, 4GB DDR2, 250GB Hitachi HDD, no battery and has a single green line on the left side of...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
You sure the Thermaltake isn't at fault too? I have one of those and almost instantly ditched its original fan (which not only was loud, but it was a 80mm w/ adapter from 70mm) in favor of a standard...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Scored an Samsug Galaxy Note 4 N910F in rather pristine condition - doesn't bootloop, but does get rather hot.
Also scored another slotket which allows me to control the CPU voltage at my free own...

Re: will GPU work with missing memory modules?
Depends which modules are bad. If anything, you theoretically could remove chips until you get to a standard RAM amount (say from 8GB to 4GB or to 2GB), and then flash a VBIOS that only uses that...

Re: Post your system.......
An old marvel taking shape. Albeit slowly, but surely.
MB: ABIT BE6-II Rev1.0 (ATA66)
CPU: Pentium III SL4C8 on no-name slotket
GPU: Radeon 7500 64MB
RAM: 512MB
Sound: SB Live! Value CT4830...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Scored a recased Spire Jewel unit (guessing it's the 380W model), Sun Pro AT-2005B PCB. Comes in handy as it's beefy all around while maintaining a low profile, has a strong enough 5v rail and has...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
Welp, the Sun Pro got scrapped. 5vSB had an issue where it would constantly tick, despite being recapped.
Instead, I've taken my time to open up an unit I wanted to work on for quite some time....

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
That's a 35 sized transformer though (not the puny 33 that most Deer/L&C usually ship with), so apart from the main caps, I'd put it at 280W continuous and 300 peak. Maybe 300 continuous if I could...

Re: Power supply build quality pictorial. part 2
Had this PSU planned for a KT133A build with a recapped ECS K7VZA rev 3, and a 1100MHz Duron (wanted a ceramic chip specifically, and the only ceramic Athlon I had is dead as a doornail :( ) and...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Scored a free ASUS A7N8X-VM/400. Basically the GF4MX version of the A7N8X - flashed the absolutely crappy AMIBIOS to Award (Chaintech 7NIF2) and besides a non-working thermal sensor (doesn't trip,...

Re: The Cheap Duo - Two SiS machines
Mine is just some noname slotket. Though thanks for the tip of slotkets, I pinmodded it and fired up an SL4C8 CuMine 1GHz just fine on the BE6-II. The SL5QW didn't want to POST, for some unknown...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1
Pulled the trigger on another 440BX gem. This time - an ABIT BE6-II !
You'd imagine I'd stop after getting an equally rare Soyo 6BA +IV and a ASUS P2B (which to be honest, is getting scarce here...

The Cheap Duo - Two SiS machines
