How much of your HDD space is already used? Have you defragged recently? Have you done a virus scan? Try Malware Bytes to see, it's free. You could upgrade RAM to 8GB.

Looks like you or someone has replaced the capacitors near the Toroids. The old caps were probably vented (bulging and leaking), causing the toroids to overheat. Replacing the toroids will not fix...

Momaka, yes I meant to say Panasonic FC! Yes, I think you are on to something with shorted USB pins on the DG34NB, as one USB port does not work at all. I will add this to my to-do list.

pfrcom, this is my regular HDD for testing. I've just successfully started it up on another board. Will try CTR-ALT-F1. I did try Ctrl-Alt-Delete, but nothing happened.
