Re: Converting +/- 5v to a Usable Hz Signal
Sounds like you need someone to do it for you, I think we've given all the clues we can give without having access to the actual hardware... This won't be a "buy this connect that" solution.

Re: Converting +/- 5v to a Usable Hz Signal
You can't fix designs you don't have information to fix... and since the main reason for having the fan on is to cool it, just cool it like a CPU fan be damned with the noise or whatever issue those...

Re: laptop vs desktop rust spinner longevity
If someone's using a laptop on their lap then I don't care how well you can keep your lap still, there will be movement. Not to also mention laptops tend to get hotter than desktop PCs (usually).

Do these drives (scorpio blue, rosewell, momentus) last longer if they weren't in laptop situations?
None of my laptop drives (excluding so far: SSDs but offtopic) last long, but they were all in...

Re: laptop vs desktop rust spinner longevity
anyone used a lot of 2.5" drives in their desktop/server machines?
Wonder because I'd think 2.5" drives need to be made at higher tolerances but yes, due to size, the drives are lighter and thus...

hmm... electric cars wouldn't have tachometers I suppose but any gasoline ones it's still somewhat interesting information. Might not be useful information for...

Has there been a study on how durable laptop 2.5" vs desktop 3.5" hard drives? Also consider 2.5" SAS drives which were meant for server use...

Re: Cleaning Motherboards - ATTN SMOKERS!!
Sometimes I wonder, which is worse - dried on HFCS soda versus sucrose soda. I think the latter might just chip off but water washes dried up HFCS soda pretty quickly...

Yeah the lacquer is a good idea, or you can just ignore it the buzz, it's not unexpected. My car battery chargers buzz, and I just use the noise as an indication it's on, as there's no other power...

How about for different reasons: forcing excessive ripple current,...

Re: resistors in parallel ?
in this case power and energy don't really matter, just take a fixed amount of time and the math works out.
This confusion is because some people equate amps (or amp hours) with, or as a proxy for...

Re: resistors in parallel ?
I think the main reason to answer the way sam did is he was thinking about batteries and considering amps and not watts.
two 12V 1Ah batteries in series will give you 24V but still only 1Ah.
