Re: Rubycon BXA genuine or not?

That one is not genuine for sure.
Rubycon capacitors do not have concentric lines on the bottom:

They measure decent though I would not use them in demanding...

Re: Rubycon BXA genuine or not?

Rubycon BXA are for LED and inverters and they are radial, not axial. They are made for circuits with high frequencies and starts at 160V like written by R_J.

I suspect that the ones bought from...

Which diameter is this Hitachi capacitor?

I'm trying to determine the exact diameter of this Hitachi capacitor:
https://i.ibb.co/k1Ns7hK/oo-14409-export-html-m35f444f7-1.png

It is a rather generic 85 capacitor and the datasheet...

Re: Are this caps something special?

Just use 50V parts and you should be okay. Kemet produces 50V parts for both 10 and 33uF tantalums, search for T52X serie.

Use a Panasonic [email protected] SMD electrolytic, it should fit. EEE-HC serie.

Re: Coupling Capacitor In Video Amplifier/Driver Circuit (CRT TV)

My choice of 160V and 250V capacitor is currently limited to capacitors which exhibits mediocre E.S.R. (8 Ohm and 16 Ohm despite them being unused but I'd assume that this is their de facto E.S.R.)...

Re: Coupling Capacitor In Video Amplifier/Driver Circuit (CRT TV)

I cannot measure it unluckily has I would have to solder the shield back again, connect all grounds again and voltages in that area can be quite high.

Do you think is possible to have higher...

Coupling Capacitor In Video Amplifier/Driver Circuit (CRT TV)

I'm currently replacing the output capacitors in a LM2437 CRT driver circuit for a TV.

The datasheet is here:
https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/8722/NSC/LM2437T.html

From the...

Re: Identifying reason for board's similar caps, but different physical sizes

The producer using capacitors of lower specs where permissible ripple in that path allowed for a cheaper component without any immediate drawback. Which translates in the minimum necessary component...

Other useful informations for the members of the forum and whoever arrives here with the same question:
1) Higher capacitance made no differences to geometry. Tried 6.8uF, 10uF, 12uF, 22uF,...

Re: question about Polymodding

I agree. Recently polymers are also cheaper and (I hope so) more robust.

I think that as long as the E.S.R. of a polymer is not a problem for the circuit you can preserve the original capacitance....

Re: 12V, 1.5A PSU Adaptor Inductor Overheating

Ripple on the mains is usually not so bad to cause an inductor to overheat that much. You may place a X2 100nF capacitor just before the inductor, it will help filtering high frequencies.

Remove...

Re: Best practice for soldering a Flyback Transformer

Thank you.

Having a hard time even fitting it with screws (it lays unevenly, one side with more distance between trafo and board). No wonder it developed bad solder joints.

I am afraid that...

Re: 12V, 1.5A PSU Adaptor Inductor Overheating

Usually the choke is placed before the bridge rectifier:

It looks like, in your case, it is placed after the bridge rectifier. You can remove it and bypass...

Re: 12V, 1.5A PSU Adaptor Inductor Overheating

Is the first capacitor placed before the inductor?

That inductor is made for AC (230V). If it is placed after the main capacitor or after the bridge rectifier then it will work with rectified DC...

Best practice for soldering a Flyback Transformer

I'm trying to solder a flyback transformer back to its board. It is quite heavy and the PCB is battered by age.

Re: Main filter capacitor substitute.

Take note that spacing in the primary section is very bad. Pass some insulating laquer, it will also protect the exposed copper areas.

Re: Which voltage is this 1uF Matsushita film capacitor?

No, the mark is not "CDI" but "CDT".

I would like to use this one in a valve amplifier as it measures perfectly without any loss and the leads are very long but the voltage is not clear.

It...

Which voltage is this 1uF Matsushita film capacitor?

I am having difficulties finding which voltage is this Matsushita 1uF film capacitor. Cannot find any reference online.

It looks to be an old serie.
