Re: Strange malfunctioning LED audio peak level meter problem

each led takes about 2v so with 3 in series that WORK - each will show the same voltage.

Re: Strange malfunctioning LED audio peak level meter problem

well you probably need to replace the lot - so the brightness matches

i would be tempted to build a new one possibly using a chinese vu meter module as a base and making a new led board to match...

Re: The PacMan ATX Computer Case - cleaning and painting

actually most 8" and a lot of early 5.25" drives used a belt to position the slider.

i imagine with the 50pin connector half the pins where ground - to stop crosstalk on long cables.

Re: The PacMan ATX Computer Case - cleaning and painting

unlike 3.5 floppies, they are very reliable, much greater surface area per bit.
they do use a sliding head system similar to a cd though, so you need to clean and lube the sliders.

i used to have...

Re: The PacMan ATX Computer Case - cleaning and painting

the only 8" drives i ever saw uncased had a LOT of pins on them - the connector adapted onto a 37pin D connector.

Re: Power good problem in PSU all voltages seems to be OK

the big cap is probably just the plastic cover sticking up - simple test is to press down on it.
the arrow in your last pic is flux from resoldering - look above it around the 8pin chip though -...

Re: Power good problem in PSU all voltages seems to be OK

post a pic of the underside of the board,
there was a psu that was known for this problem that was on russian forums a lot - had a shorted capacitor or diode or something on the underside of the pcb

Re: Car radio stopped working

pull the shield.
just from that picture i think it may recover just with a good fluxing and a re-heat of each joint.
though from experience with sattelite tuners i would test the semiconductors -...

Re: Sony GDM-FW900 - Help Me Fix It?

if you have a scope or good multimeter you may be able to trace it by grounding the 3 inputs or linking them all together and then comparing the 3 signals as they leave each chip

Re: YDD Light Saber repair

most desktop computers can supply a lot more than 1A - they just link the usb ports to the psu.
sometimes they use a polyfuse, but often it's for multiple ports so you can pull 3A or more.

Re: Bench testing this CPU board

! means inverted,
so pins 5 & 6 should always be oposits of each other.
now you pulled the chip, try metering the resistance between holes 5&6 and the power rails - incase there is a short on the...

there is a qualification for use in safety-critical stuff like cars called AEC-Q200.
there is also an ISO standard.

Re: Bench testing this CPU board

the serial port(s) are clearly opto-isolated from the board,
so the serial cable has to be powering the interface.
if you arent powering that circuitry then it wont work.
also, it's obviously a...

Re: Bench testing this CPU board

first move is to dump the eprom and eeprom, and put a sticker over the eprom window.
as for the isolated port, you really need a wiring diagram of the machine to be doing this type of work.
