Thanks, pfrcom. I will check out your suggestions. Looks like MX has the better of Ubuntu for now. Plus which the complete install of MX is 5.8GB vs about 11GB for Linux Mint.

Bios Depot on Ebay sells them for $15. I got one for a SOYO board a couple of years ago after trying everything else but it didn't fix it.

It was a RAM issue. Moved the stick around and got "60" on the first two slots, then "d4" on the remaining two, using my PCI code reader.

Tried single-sided Samsung 1GB stick and it booted up....

Asus M2N-E uses AM3 CPUs?

Accordng to the ASUS website, if you apply BIOS 5001 you can use Socket AM3 CPUs on the M2N-E motherboard.
