Re: TCL 55P607: swap power supply to convert to 230V?

I believe you have 230/240 in the kitchen so feel free to try it. I'm fairly sure it won't go up in smoke. I've never seen an active PFC circuit that wasn't universal input.

On your power supply...

Re: Adding extra backlight features to TV

Some results in photo and video form. Of course these don't do it justice, you have to try it on your own TV to see if you like it.

Re: Adding extra backlight features to TV

Here's the first iteration, easier than I expected. I removed the dimmer wire from the mainboard side of the power connector and wired pin 19 of the SCART connector to it.

Of course, the results...

Re: TCL 55P607: swap power supply to convert to 230V?

This power supply looks like it has active PFC and the mains fuse is rated for 250V. I believe you can plug it into 240 with no changes required.

Re: old LG 47LE8900 not turning on

I can source replacement processors for these, the BGA rework side of things is up to you though as I no longer have a rework station.

Re: Technika 40" LCD -- Back into Standby

Leaky buttons won't show on a basic multimeter test, the keypads are multiplexed and sometimes it's a really retarded way like having an ADC read different voltage levels from different resistors in...

Re: TCL 55P607: swap power supply to convert to 230V?

You should be able to find a power supply that is a drop-in replacement. However most power supplies in the past decade are universal input. Do you have schematics or at least some photos of your...

Cool Adding extra backlight features to TV

My replacement LED strips got delivered today for this LG 32LF561V which had its backlight fail a third time, despite reducing the output current last time around, so I decided to just get a full...

Re: JBL S412PII Speakers Distorted Bass Repair and Updated Schematics

Ah, the brown glue. I developed a few grey hairs some years ago while troubleshooting a plate Amp that would make random popcorn noises. Recapping didn't fix it. Removing the glue from the preamp...

Re: Chasis bond to neutral to overcome oven tripping problem

Neutral should only bond to earth at the main panel and indeed, tying the chassis of a metallic appliance to neutral is very naughty and dangerous. You should look into getting a new oven soon.

You can buy nothing that fits your purposes because your requirements are impossible to fulfill. You must be delusional, since I, on Chinese manufactured goods that you seem to hate, was able to...

Re: BGA Rework Station advice.

My profiles can only make barbecue. No popcorn. :goofy: Also there seems to be some popcorn stuck in your caps lock key.

Re: old LG not turning on

They usually do start up if the BGA soldering is bad. Disconnect the cable between main board and tcon. Does it power up then?

Re: Capacitor TK ATWY Replacement for ECS RS780M-M3 Motherboard

I'd use Nichicon but the Wurth ones look really nice - it's an aesthetic decision at this point.

Re: IR6500 problems, any tips?

It's normal for a white heater to glow more as it lets more light thru. Nothing stopping you from painting it black though. :D

Re: Big Blue -- What is this component?

I don't know of liquid electrolyte tantalums indeed, I was surprised to see that corrosion under it, perhaps it's from something else?

And yes, Tantalum capacitors absolutely love to go up in...

Re: BGA Rework Station advice.

Oh this is such a mess. FYI my Honton profiles had the BGA temperature at exactly what the top heater was running at. As for fixed PCB supports, no one says you can't leave them a little loose, which...

Re: Big Blue -- What is this component?

220uF 10v Tantalum capacitor made in West Germany. Replace with polymer. You might want to replace the silver axial caps as well.

470uF polymer caps would be a suitable replacement.

Re: BGA Rework Station advice.

I am far past the age where I feel like I have something to prove. The Honton served me well and it serves its new owner just as well. I've also helped a number of people get their station set up...

Re: BGA Rework Station advice.

You've been using the wrong thermocouples then. I've sold my Honton a few months back but all three thermocouples tracked perfectly with variations less than 2C.

Re: Dell 3008WFP Monitor Intermittent Text Shadowing

Ouch. Looks like the cable equivalent of the infamous brown glue. Check ebay. If you can't find it there, I'm sad to announce you're gonna have to stitch it together yourself. Not the hardest thing...
