They are not fake, but really really old. I see a 82 datecode on the Nichicon - that makes it 33 years old. On the capacitor marked nasa the datecode is 95 - so that is 20 years old.

I cleaned and re-seated the connectors but that didn't repair the problem. I also tried to heat the main board while the TV was on but that didn't make any difference

I have started measuring the ESR of the caps on mainboard, but haven't found any bad ones.

I only have low esr capacitors, except for the 0.22uF caps. However in most cases you should be fine with general purpose capacitors on 0.22 - 4.7uF and probably up to 47uF too.
