Re: Lelon quality

i dont see anything wrong with them,
just dont put them in something that gets hot.

Re: Sony ADP-200ER Ps4 Power Supply

the unductor (pfc choke)
is just a coil, it's supposed to look like a short.
put it in your component tester and check the inductance.

Re: Frying amplifier finals... audio, not rf...

the output transistors often go open internally - probably melted bond wires.
and sometimes they crack or shatter the resin casing

Re: Frying amplifier finals... audio, not rf...

it's not heat, if the bias goes out of balance on a push/pull output circuit the transistors drive into each other and create a dead short
if your lucky the amp has seperate internal fuses on the +...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

but you dont have a wiring / loom schematic if the customer just brings the board.
i dont want slot machines delivered just to fix a control pcb

besides, you often spot parts that are "almost"...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

not so easy though when they are fired with short pulses and drive triac gates. :(

Re: Frying amplifier finals... audio, not rf...

it depends on age.
i see a lot of 70's and 80's stuff - drifted values on resistors and caps is common.

there is a french guy who is reverse engineering a lot of stk stuff to create clones btw.

Re: Frying amplifier finals... audio, not rf...

i often help a guy fixing amps - dont get them myself.

the most common cause of final destruction is faulty bits in the pre-drive either overdriving the finals or turning both parts of a push/pull...

Re: Caseless Cheap Chinese electronic tools

my counter goes to 2.4GHz

the tools you buy will be dictated by what your doing.

my usb-serial convertor is mostly for flashing routers.
my frequency counter is for checking radio's
my pwm...

Re: Apple IIgs RGB Color Monitor (A2M6014x)

i hope you have a dummy load on B+ like a 40w lamp.

pull J22 and see what happens - just to eliminate the possibility of an intermittent short in the primary capacitor.

Re: question capacitor ceramic smd

no.
and electrolytics take many years to depolarise anyway.

Re: Short theory

test, then test with the probes switched.
if it's charging caps then you will see a jump in readings for a second

Re: Caseless Cheap Chinese electronic tools

most used is my component tester,
then my usb-serial(3.3v) adapter,
then probably my €12 8digit frequency counter!!!
i also have a fully programable pwm generator - but that dont count because it...

Re: ESR meter upgrades

your not working on digital stuff then.

i recently pulled 16 transistors that powered solenoids,
didnt know the spec so just compared them to find the odd one(s) out.

Re: Short theory

wrong, your meter is supplying power.
thats how it works, it applies a current limited voltage - usually 2-3v and calculates resistance from the volt-drop

probably 47uf and 16v
looking at what its in i think it needs to be 105' temp rated.
so maybe use rubycon YXF

Re: TPS65862IC Programmer & socket?

chips like that are usually programmed on the board.
see if the laptop - it's a laptop right?
see if it has test-pads connected to the ic points on the chip
