Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

They have the "RGBW-on-LCD" thing.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Is that LG the UH6100 series? Those don't do real 4K!

Re: ASRock AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Causes Computer To Lose Display Until Forced Reboot

On my Radeon RX 5600 XT, VRAM instability causes 0x00000124 (WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR) crash and auto reboot with the given reason being "Cache Hierarchy Error".

Re: ASRock AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Causes Computer To Lose Display Until Forced Reboot

VRAM being unstable, is more likely to cause a WHEA crash and auto reboot.

Re: LG UH8500 Backlight Troubleshooting Help

The backlights sound just as unreliable as on the UH6100s. We had a UH6100 of the same build year and the backlight LEDs were clearly bad, (purplish-blue) even when it didn't shut off the backlight...

Re: LG OLED55C7P Vertical White Bar and Randomly Turns Off

Does this mean that OLEDs will fail every four or five years?! That's not a lick better than a cheapo IPS LCD or a VA LCD! FFS!

I guess it was good that I didn't get an OLED yet for gaming. For...

Re: Samsung un50nu7100f dark screen right most side.

Well, this is terrible. I never expected Samsung to have these issues!

Re: GTX970 vs 1060

QFT! Makes me miss 2019 and even most of "two-zero", was better than the current video card price fiasco!

"two-one", will go down in the history books!

Re: Corsair TX-750 problem with finding component

IIRC, I have a later TX (TX850M) with much better cap choices.

IIRC, that one doesn't look better than a later CX, cap-wise.

Re: Do bad capacitors stink?

For some reason, I like the smell of fresh motherboards! Especially the Asus Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 that I got in summer, 2015. It's funny and punny how I literally like the smell of fresh...

Re: Do bad capacitors stink?

Check for spiders and webs on the motherboard and cards. Same with earwigs and house centipedes. (house centipedes are usually only seen in downtown areas)

I have yet to see a house centipede at...

Re: Modern Samxon and Teapo caps much better these days?

Reminds me of Chemi-con KZGs, where ones made in 2004 and 2005, possibly have the highest failure rates. I do know that 2004s and 2005s, seem more likely to bulge and leak when I turn around! Even...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I mentioned that Dell model, because it's notorious for not having an AGP slot!
And of course, a Celeron-class variant of Pentium 4, was common!

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Why a PCI video card? WTF? This isn't a stinking Dell Dimension 2400, FFS.

Re: Has anyone had issues with Rayovac Alkaline batteries leaking

I like the Energizer lithium AA batteries. I don't know if anything can beat them in portable audio players. For non-rechargeables, they look like the go-tos!

I probably would recommend them, for...

Re: Bad Caps in the Movies !!!!!!

And, I thought that was exciting in a strange way, when I saw bad caps for real at a PC recycling place in Windsor, Vermont, probably back in 2008 and 2009!

Re: Amish Computer - No, this is not a joke!

The first broad interpretation, one day in June, 2014, IIRC, literally caused me to get depressed for the rest of the day and go back to bed, thinking that I'm going to get sent to hell! Was thinking...

Re: Amish Computer - No, this is not a joke!

Sounds like the config files are locked like Fort Knox! So you couldn't change them to allow mounting and opening of external drives.

Re: Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 300 Bios corrupted

I don't know, but I saw behavior similar to that with a bad CPU socket. (minus it power cycling itself)

Re: Manufacturing Date of Electrolytic capcitor

The AICtech caps, look like 1982, in American date format. We, over here, have been used to using WWYY instead of the internationally-known YYWW order.

Re: Cap replacement on a GA-8KNXP motherboard

I guess this means that 6.3V is the usual lowest voltage rating and thus, you just go ahead and use 6.3V-rated caps for a rail as low as 1V.

Re: Cap replacement on a GA-8KNXP motherboard

So those caps are after the +12 volt is dropped down, but before the final stages. But, on that schematic, looks like 6.3V-rated caps are indeed used for the Vcore output.

Re: Cap replacement on a GA-8KNXP motherboard

Pentium 4 motherboards, usually run the Vcore from +12V, not +5V, unlike socket 462 and socket 370. I was thinking that 3300uF 6.3V caps were mainly on socket 462 and socket 370 motherboards. The...
