rooting around the net it looks like beta 3950 are used in some packs so will order a couple of them and see how it behaves .

good idea if i can find a pot . i can get hold of another battery pack and check extremes of the one fitted by blowing hot air and freezing it .

which thermistor for battery pack ?

ok got a 80v lithium pack in with dodgy temp sensing thermistor .its stuck at 13.5k .
have removed it and tacked a 10k resistor across where it goes and now the charger thinks its good to charge...

even if i get it charging i dont know what to do about the data wire that goes to the electronics from the battery .

tried another drive yet ? or tested drive in another pc ?
will it boot live linux from cd or usb to diagnose ?
maybe try ubcd cd or usb stick and see if it can be...

try hot air and iron at same time . crank both up and do it as quick as possible .oh add low melting solder to speed things up .

ok changed the caps including the blue one . did a good job considering the damage. one trace had to be glued back down .. charged a battery but it only took ten minutes . no smoke and nothing...

they have max temp on them for rated hours ..the cooler they are kept the longer they last
