Re: Eizo S2000 suddenly died

Found a National Semiconductor LM1117MPX-2.5 at the Swedish store Electrokit (https://www.electrokit.com/en/product/lm1117-2-5-sot-223-voltage-regulator-2-5v/).
No SMD fuse there though, but there...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Found a 40" Philips BDM4065UC 4K LCD monitor in the dumpster.
All that was bad was the LED backlight strips, all four of them.
Bought new ones on eBay for 27 and it works fine again.
But the size...

Re: Need Advice On Which Caps To Buy For Dell Dimension 8300 Motherboard

Your original capacitors have a rated ripple current of 1300mA according to the datasheet I linked in my previous post.
Higher rating is better but solid polymer caps are so much better that you can...

Re: Component identification

I'm partial to them since they were actually manufactured in Sweden in the past ;)
I would do as redwire said: replace with any safety agency approved X2 capacitor.
The link was more because you...

Re: Need Advice On Which Caps To Buy For Dell Dimension 8300 Motherboard

You can't buy electrolytic capacitors today that have as good specs as those old original capacitors had, nobody manufactures such any more...
What you have there is Nichicon HN...

Re: Need Advice On Which Caps To Buy For Dell Dimension 8300 Motherboard

These capacitors are for the processors core voltage.
Since it is a Pentium 4 that will be well below 2v so you can use caps rated for just 2.5v.
That gives a very sensible option to the Sanyo SEPC...

Re: Cyberpower CP900EPFCLCD - F03 Error

Ok, so with these values it looks to me like your incoming line voltage is 233VAC
Since you measured 227v in series with the bulb this is the voltage it drops.
So therefore your measurements of...

Re: Topcat's Other Misc Weird Build Thread

I bought a Sigma DP2 second hand for around $100 a few years ago.
I don't regret doing so, because I now cherish my Canon EOS 40D even more :D
That said it is a pretty cool camera once you get the...

Re: Eizo S2000 suddenly died

It's alive!
I made one more test with the voltage regulator U1:
I connected a 100ohm resistor across the fuse to give it a small load.
Just to make sure that was not why it was not regulating...

Re: Eizo S2000 suddenly died

Hold your horses!
Fuse F3 on the LVDS board measures open!
So I started it up and measured the test point "V33" on the board that sits behind the other fuse F2 via voltage regulator U2 and sure...

I have some video boards from an Acer AL2423W...

Thanks, there does seem to be activity.
There is also activity on the small programming port (or whatever it is) with designation CN801
I also measured all crystals directly now (and not via...

Re: Filter Cap AC Ripple Questions

It is completely normal if there is no more active filtering.
I.e. if you just have a bridge rectifier and a cap you will have ripple.
The amount depends on the size of the cap and the connected...

Re: Cyberpower CP900EPFCLCD - F03 Error

Yes, just plug it in now, the lamp is allowed to flash once bright as the caps charge.
After that it should be quite dim.
If it is bright then it is expected something is still shorted.

Re: Eizo S2000 suddenly died

Sorry maybe I was not clear, I meant that I don't think the issue is in the EDID data with my previous message.
However I got a bit intrigued and used Entech Taiwan's Monitor Asset Manager...

Re: Cyberpower CP900EPFCLCD - F03 Error

The "T" in "TAPc" could stand for "Time Delay" i.e. a slow blow fuse.
But none of those letters really make sense so could just be production numbers...
If you try with a quick blow fuse you don't...

Eizo S2000 suddenly died

Hello, my trusty old Eizo S2000 LCD monitor suddenly died as I was using it the other day.
The picture quality started degrading and a few seconds later washed out completely, see attached photos....

Re: Dell 2700w j728n 3kVa UPS not starting

That looks like it would be based on an old iron transformer since it weights 2.3KG.
So I'd say that is a proper charger :)

Re: Dell 2700w j728n 3kVa UPS not starting

"Smart charger" well that is probably the definition of the word oxymoron if you look it up in a dictionary!
If you have a "stupid" charger then try that, if not it might be worth getting one.
(You...

Re: Cyberpower CP900EPFCLCD - F03 Error

Yes exactly, just connect it where the fuse was before.

Cut away the heatshrink tubing from the old fuse and read what it says on the ends: there are fast and slow fuses and it is important to...

Re: Cyberpower CP900EPFCLCD - F03 Error

Great, I would replace this fuse with an old incandescent 40w or 60w light bulb.
If this bulb turns on bright when you turn the UPS on you still have a big problem somewhere.
You can of course skip...
