Re: The (now the death of) Dolby DP600 Build (OK, this one is BEYOND COOL)

Good guess for sure...but no. There will be a PSU load tester in this 42u cabinet, but not in this 7u unit. ;)

Re: Topcat's XPS 625 Supermicro X8SAX Revival; First 2021 Build!

This system has been stripped of its core (motherboard, CPU, and RAM), as I needed them for a production build; work before play I guess......but fear not, this system will be reborn, it just might...

Re: Samsung UN43NU6900FXZA 43" 4K - Power Supply Issue

There is 12.5~12.9v there, drops/fluctuates ~.5v with the 'chirp'. With the aid of a stethoscope, the 'chirp' seems to be coming from TP801CS....but it's very faint, so I can't guarantee that....but...

Re: fixed but got grainy/noise picture on my plasma now -LG 50PA6500

Yes, I set the RAMP_UP & RAMP_DN by sight with a pattern generator, it wasn't difficult....it'd just have been fun to set it correctly.... Just for giggles, I'll flip through the manual posted...

Re: The (now the death of) Dolby DP600 Build (OK, this one is BEYOND COOL)

I left out quite a few pics that probably would have given away the function this particular 7U contraption; albeit the entire 42U cabinet will be quite multi-functional...but with the next few steps...

Re: fixed but got grainy/noise picture on my plasma now -LG 50PA6500

I did find a firmware dated 2013 on LG's site, the set was made Jan 2012...and I doubt the owner ever updated it. I'll do the update of course....but I don't think it'll help much unless it kicks up...

Re: fixed but got grainy/noise picture on my plasma now -LG 50PA6500

I got them all dialed in except VS. If I set VS at its prescribed voltage (205v), the ghosting & horrible red graininess comes back. Set around 210~212, that clears up, TV runs without issues. It...

Re: The (now the death of) Dolby DP600 Build (OK, this one is BEYOND COOL)

Played around with this some today.....a few of the first 'permanent' modifications have been made....no turning back now!! :beehive:

A 5U enclosure.....use your imagination for now!! :D

Thanks for all the info. I do think the coils need to be reflowed, I didn't do them on the zsus board, just the Y...and now & then I do get reddish/pink graininess....which seems to come & go,...

Re: fixed but got grainy/noise picture on my plasma now -LG 50PA6500

I kicked up the VS, it went away for the most part. I don't have the service manual, so I was doing this blind based on a white raster until it shut down...then backed it off a little. It is...

Re: fixed but got grainy/noise picture on my plasma now -LG 50PA6500

It was, it has been replaced along with all those of that value (100uF 50v). That's why the board was out of the set....recapping and checking for cracked solder under all that heat.

Re: fixed but got grainy/noise picture on my plasma now -LG 50PA6500

I did alter the RAMP_UP and RAMP_DN pots. Prior, I did mark their positions with a felt marker so they could be returned to their original positions. Both altered the view, but neither one...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

I looked at these closer.....they're 2007WFPb; 16:10 but 20" not 22.... :-/ I believe those are 1680x1050....but I'm with you completely on 16:9 versus 16:10. 16:9 is fine for a TV, but on a...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

...and 1080, that's all most seem to care about..

Systems like the 380 can accept Xeon mods (5450's are great), and with DDR3 (can take 8gb) + SSD, run 10 nicely actually. These are just...

Re: Samsung UN43NU6900FXZA 43" 4K - Power Supply Issue

I did not do any voltage measurements with that mosfet removed, I just checked it for shorts and removed it to identify it....it was mounted funny; face down. The only way to identify it was to...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

It was made in 1997; big table-top model. CRT seems to be ok. Bright & good color. Gonna try and rehome it.

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Today's freebies (that I was paid to take) were 3x CRT TV's. 2x 27" Sanyo's and a 36" Zenith. All work....but the vertical linearity is a little out of kilter on the Zenith....probably needs...
