Re: Car amplifier(Polk Audio PA660) question

I've opened a few of these now that I had marked as defective back when. Also got a few more that were in the batch and overlooked; two PA330s and another 880 and 660.

I've limited myself so far...

Re: Car amplifier(Polk Audio PA660) question

Inventory shows nine PA660 and two PA880. I have a PA330 in my van bridged mono for subwoofer power. It's basically half of a 660, two channels with the same specs as the 660. It's been a very...

Re: Car amplifier(Polk Audio PA660) question

Old thread, I know; but thanks all for the info and encouragement. I just picked a dozen of these...mixed PA660s and PA880s. I worked for a small salvage biz a couple of years ago, testing and...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

Looking for a new desk computer couple of months ago...tried all the usual haunts--looked into building something--and finally resorted to intensive pawn shopping. Came upon a Dell Inspiron 660s in...

Re: best cheap/free scores 1.1

HP WJ676A 20" LCD monitor at the thrift store the other day. They had three or four LCD monitors in 16x9. It was between this one and a Dell...each priced the same at $11. I plugged in the Dell,...

Re: Ghetto mod thread

Does this qualify? I think so....

Some time ago, my old phone decided to quit charging its battery. The phone itself worked fine...just wouldn't charge. Battery was good, so I hacked up an old...

Re: HP L1955 with Benq 48.L1A02.A00 inverter

"Here is where to solder the jumper wire I traced it out with a continuity tester. I checked those five other traces radiating from under the IC as well and they had no tie to the torn trace.

This...

Re: Wireless Router only works 'Wired'

Thank you. This was more a general discussion question than a direct call for help, although I will eventually do as you ask. It seems odd that I keep having the same symptom across a variety of...

Re: Gateway FDP1975W

Again, thank you. I will post again when I have the monitor opened and camera set up. I was judging the likelihood of success the 2nd time around. I recall selecting based on ESR, size, temp coef....

Re: Gateway FDP1975W

I'm sorry. That was a reply to another message on another thread. I don't know how I got it mixed up.

Re: Gateway FDP1975W

Thank you. I will do that. My question was general, though. Is this a common failure mode?

Wireless Router only works 'Wired'

I've been reading the forum and wondered why this was so common, especially with Linksys products, but with others as well. Is this a common failure mode, or is it just me? If it's as common as...

Re: Office Depot Ativa Wireless G Router AWGR54 by Belkin

Kudos! I have one of these disasters which failed to work right out of the box. In fact, I'm going to open a thread about failed wireless routers in general. The failure mode I experience most...

Re: Gateway FDP1975W

As I recall, I believe I replaced them all, and was pretty careful in my selection from Newark's stock when I ordered. I could have missed something...or possibly should have also replaced the caps...

Gateway FDP1975W

I've noticed a few folks here have successfully recapped these. I wonder if any of you subsequently had more trouble with them. Looking elsewhere on the web, repeat failures seem to be common.:(

Re: Your Best Dumpster Finds

Old thread, new member.

I could absolutely fill this entire thread with the things I've scrounged over the years. Unfortunately, I still have many of them. :-)

Still, the best one I found...

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi! Jack Dedert, 58 from Nashville. I've been following this forum for years, but had some kind of disconnect with my subscription. That said, I've been using information from here almost since...
