Re: hp probook 4520s power problem

is 3VL present when you added the jumper?

Remove the jumper and measure voltage on all pins of BQ24740 and report back. Also check if any mosfet is shorted (U50, Q29, Q30, U21, U17)

Re: la-9104p MB 7 Beeps error and no display

I may have spoken too early as I might have a bad CPU afterall. I went back and rechecked the LA-9101P and how would you know...+VCC_GFXCORE_AXG is missing (no idea how I missed that). PU700 is ok...

Re: la-9104p MB 7 Beeps error and no display

It's quite rare that it is an actual CPU issue. I did have a PCH issue in the past but ofcourse the PCH is the last I would blame.

Which part/IC was the problem?

Re: la-9104p MB 7 Beeps error and no display

Hello, do you have activity on both BIOS? Check pin 1 with an oscilloscope (measure while turning laptop ON). I have a similar issue (7 beeps) with a LA-9101P but no activity on BIOS.

Everything...

Re: Lenovo Ideapad 330S-15IKB dead

Why would you reflow CPU? This may actually make a fixable board unfixable! Did you troubleshoot first? Measure voltage and resistance on all coils and report back. Also please provide motherboard...

Exclamation Warped SOC

Hey guys,

I recently tried to remove an SOC (dead) from a donor board for practice. It's my first SOC removal and desoldering process was uneventful. Once lifted, I did a visual inspection of same...

Re: Dell Inspiron 15-3542 2beeps porblem

Check Q1801. What is voltage on PCH_SMBDATA (pin200 on ram slot) and PCH_SMBCLK (pin202)?

Do you have a bench power supply? If yes, what is current draw when board is on (with and without RAM)?

Re: Dell Inspiron 15-3542 2beeps porblem

What is resistance to ground on pin30(dramrst#)?
Check resistance of R410.

Also check continuity between pin2 of R410 and pin 30.

Re: LA-9865P boot/power looping

Correction (Sorry, was short on sleep when writing original post)

Its not 0.75V but rather 0.12V. Resistance to ground on DIMM_DRAMRST# varies from 0.6KOhm to 0.76KOhm (same reading with or...

Re: LA-9865P boot/power looping

Edit:
Power draw @ 19.7V:
1. 20mA standby when charger is first plugged in
2. 282mA (with and without RAM) when turned on
3. 10mA standby after a few cycles

32.768KHz and 24MHz clock present...

Re: Alienware M17x R4 no power, low resistance 5v/3.3v to GND

If you measured resistance while power was applied to board you will get erroneous reading and may appear as 0 ohm.

Re: Upgrading chipset

Both were replaced and reprogrammed. It could also be that the BIOS need tweaking but I have no idea what/how.

OP already did that in post #1 (3rd paragraph). I have never seen 19V on power button, have you?

Can you increase the current? I see from post #1 you used 1V @3A. Can you try 1V @5A?

Re: Alienware M17x R4 no power, low resistance 5v/3.3v to GND

Did you replace PU4 or just soldered the old one back? If the latter, then try replacing PU4.

Re: Tool Recommendation: soldering iron and hot air station

The MS300 is from Atten and is not an all-in-one/combined unit per se. Its actually 3 separate unit mounted in a frame, of which is the ST-862D hot air station.

Re: Alienware M17x R4 no power, low resistance 5v/3.3v to GND

Correct!

You can also have a path to ground through PQ29 and PQ30 if they are faulty (shorted or leaky). Check continuity across them to check if are still good. Measure out of circuit if...

Re: HP 14 DA0U8AMB6A0 short in 1.05v anything hot

Inject 1V in PJP6 side and see what gets hot. If the PCH die gets hot, its most likely shorted.

Check if resistance of PR240 and PR241 read ok also.

Re: Missing 3.3va on Acer 14

Your board is NCBT411 and schematic is for NCBT419, are they similar?

Glad to hear you have 3.3V again though. Any history of the laptop? Was it water damaged, etc?
