Re: What's this transformer for and how to find in on aliexpress?

How do you know the number of turns? Have you UNWOUND the core and counted? Or, is the transformer still operational and you observed the voltage gain?

[If operational, then why are you...

Re: Shopping for a bench power supply, Advice?

Don't just come up with some numbers; sit down and "what-if" different scenarios and see how your needs might change. Then, look over the list of requirements and see if any of the outliers can be...

Re: Fwiw: Apc ups

As I said, the RIGHT solution is for the UPS to "take notes" about the conditions its been operating in (after all, it is likely on 24/7/365!) and how often it encounters outages, how long they are,...

Re: Fwiw: Apc ups

We rarely have outages. At times, we encounter "switching transients" as the utility changes how our portion of the network is fed. These are just "light blinks" but can crash some devices with...

Re: Fwiw: Apc ups

It's obviously more than that -- as the unit claims the battery is fully charged. A faulty battery would appear overcharged.

Note that leaving the self-test configured to run periodically just...

Re: Gardena R38li lawnrobot mainboard power issue

An obvious approach is to see if it is a separate subcircuit vs. one of the many (likely identical) FET circuits in that area. In the latter case, you can examine the non-toasted FET circuits to...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

When you are dealing with high volume products -- or high COST products -- there is an entirely different calculus that goes into your (design) decisions.

If I can save a few dollars by having a...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

There are several US vehicles that hide the battery in places other than "under the hood". But, the do so NOT to put it in a less hot environment but, rather, because there is a growing space...

Fwiw: Apc ups

I've known this for ages. And, have taken steps to ensure I can't be "bitten" by it on all my UPSs.

But, apparently, forgot to "fix" one of them -- a SmartUPS C1500. No doubt because it doesn't...

Re: Help me find a replacement power supply!

Cobble the "mounting surface(s)" off of the old power supply and use that as a bracket (mount new PSU to it!).

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

Anyone who is a "transplant" to this region has the same things to say regarding the lack of that "dreary overcast" that is so common, elsewhere. It has (had!) a pronounced affect on your mental...

Re: Convert AV Receiver to Pre-amp

Why don't you just put a pad on the output (or, better yet, on the INPUT to the active speakers!)? That leaves the receiver intact...

Re: WD drive "colors"

I think (?) SFC only checks system files -- not "user files" (?). Could it be that those particular corrupt files weren't actually USED in most Windows boots?

And, it obviously won't check a...

Re: WD drive "colors"

We already have such devices: RAM (as on-drive cache), SSD and HDD in the same package. All that needs to happen is firmware being "opened" so customers can tune the performance to their specific...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

The cost of a battery is not driven by the amount of acid in the electrolyte. Do the research instead of speculating idly. There are also OTHER FACTORS that go into making a long life battery --...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

There's a difference between a "warm" climate and a "hot" climate. We often have over 100 days at or above 100F. Batteries die predicatably faster. Rubber tires wear out faster. Roofs fail...

I'm a business. I store everything that I've ever created, everything that I've ever USED to create those things, all of the data that proves each design, 'scope traces, mathematical analysis, etc.....

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

(sigh) Apparently can't read. WE HAVE DONE THIS ANALYSIS AND ARE ACTIVELY USING THE RESULTS TO DEPLOY LEAD ACID BATTERIES IN OUR PRODUCTS WITH *20* YEAR LIFESPANS.

You, too, can get any sort of...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

You won't get "technical data" because there are too many degrees of freedom to put it into context. And, manufacturers want to only nail down the minimum number of items that they think absolutely...

Re: Something is short on my van, but what?

As I said, CODIFY your environment and you can get REAL numbers as to what EACH factor contributes to battery life. You think it can all be distilled to a simple rule-of-thumb; it can't.

HIRE...

Re: WD drive "colors"

The problem with ever increasing storage densities and falling price-per-bits is that it doesn't incentivize you to do any "housecleaning". It's easier to just KEEP stuff and buy more space than it...

Re: WD drive "colors"

I have ~12 250G SSDs that I rescued -- but I've never been motivated to put any into use (esp given that I don't know their history). I may try installing one in the DVR just to see how it fares...

Re: WD drive "colors"

I don't mind if a manufacturer changes an implementation -- even within a particular model number.

But, the "contract" that the interface specification represents should be sacrosanct. I'm not...

Re: WD drive "colors"

100+TB of SSD is a bit pricey. :> I don't see the performance gains to represent a REAL "productivity enhancement" -- at least not for the types of work that I do (load app ONCE, then spend your...
