Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

Does both side of PL700 show 0.2ohm? Or only 1 side?

Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

Yes, that was the crazy part. The chip itself wasnt heating up but once removed the short was gone.

Re: LA-9104P 7 beeps no video (inspiron 3521)

Try a known good BIOS. I had a similar issue once, 7 beeps and everything else seemed OK. Flashing a known good BIOS worked for me.

Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

If you can't find PU800, try looking at the small black IC that has the following label: CD3301 (a quick google search should show you how it looks like).

Post a picture of your motherboard...

Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

After trying the above, try removing PL700 and see on which side the short is.

If you are comfortable with it, try removing PU800 and check if the short is still present or not. This chip can...

Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

Definitely have a short on main rail. PL101 seems low also. Let's figure out the mail short first.

Since you mentioned you did not see any physical damage, try injecting voltage on PL700. Start at...

Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

Ok great! A good magnifying glass will do if you cannot find a microscope.

Before we concentrate on the main rail, we want to rule out the possibility the other power supplies are not shorted. Set...

Re: Dell XPS 15 9570: no life in motherboard, GPU uses 20 watts

Yikes, indeed PQ1500 seems to be shorted. Try removing it and test out of circuit. You could also remove PL1500 and check again.

Re: Dell XPS 15 9570: no life in motherboard, GPU uses 20 watts

Looks like a dead/fried GPU. Try checking if the high side mosfet for the GPU supply is shorted or not. Measure continuity across PQ1000 & PQ1002.

CPU and GPU will read low resistance.

Re: To all the MacBook BGA Reball repair doctors... expert question

Attach schematic and boardview. From your picture, it seems the trace to the mentioned pad is gone. Can you confirm same?

It can be another component on PP5V_S4 that is shorted to ground and not...

Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

No worries, you'll learn along the way. If I may ask, do you have some background in electronics/soldering/using multimeter, etc?

Our first step is to try to rule out any obvious faults through...

Re: Need help troubleshooting power circuit on Dell Lattitude E7450

Most likely a short on the 19V main rail. Provide schematic and we can dig further. Depending on which circuit the mosfet is from, that could also be an issue. Can't say for sure without schematic.

Re: Turn on 1 minutes and then turn off. Lenovo ideapad 110-14ast

Check if the thermal compound hasn't dried up and check if heatsink fins isn't clogged with dust.

Replace the themal pad/compound and clean the fins.

Re: Dell E6430 shortcircuit

Likely to be a BIOS issue. Try to clean ME of your Bios, or try a known good bios dump.

Re: Dell E6540 mb shortcircuit.

Charger going off most likely indicates a short circuit on the main 19V rail itself. If you suspect it might be the caps you mentioned, remove them and measure resistance to ground on its pad....

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

Resolder everything back except those that caused resistance to increase when removed. I would replace those, especially PU1100.

Once you have resoldered and replaced necessary parts, measure...

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

Sure, try and see what happens. If no change, resolder all ICs and replace PU1100 with a known good chip and recheck resistance value. Around 120-170 Ohm should be OK for that rail.

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

Just as a precaution, check if there is no solder bridge remaining after you disoldered pjp102/3.

Dont inject voltage if the driver chips are desoldered, at 85ohms (injecting 5V max) not much...

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

By all pins you mean +5V_ALW, correct? Does both side of PJP102/3 still show same value or are they different now (pin1 is one value and pin 2 is different).

Still low but 85 is better than 20, so...

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

Had an almost similar issue a while back. In my case it was a dead Core voltage controller and a USB protection IC. Try removing PU1100 and see if that changes anything.

Last resort would be to...

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

Easiest way in my opinion would be to just unsolder it and check both sides. Taking uz26 as example, measure resistance on pin 1,2 to ground then 13,14 to ground.

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

Hmmm, try checking circuits connected to 5VALW. Refer to page 4 and 67, check the load switch IC such as UZ26.

Re: Dell Precision 7510 charge battery and left side board problem.

Since you mentioned desoldering PJP102/3 doesn't change anything I'd start with pu101 first.
