Re: How to desolder this component beside chemical cap ?

Angle the nozzle away from the cap and plastic connector, capton tape and or a thermal pad to protect from the heat if you're worried.

Re: Tivo HD will not transfer files ....

Is there a transfer limit ? You can copy to one Tivo but not from that to another.
Windows 10 wasn't involved for the copying was it ? I've seen it do weird things with file permissions.

Re: #@&*%!dpak

Get yourself a better iron like the Axium T3A, if that won't remove it you're doing something wrong.
Are you adding leaded solder? Why not try it with the hot air?

Re: Borderless TV screens (without bezel)

You've used the wrong tape. That's not strong enough and coming from ebay is possibly fake.
It's some 3M VHB tape you should be using,

Re: philips 65PUS6162/05 dead no sby led

Your words suggested just getting some heat in to see if there was a BGA issue, 200c is about right but you turn on whilst it's still hot, the heat causing expansion, hopefully making a temporary...

Re: philips 65PUS6162/05 dead no sby led

There wouldn't be any change if you let it cool down. 200c isn't hot enough to melt anything and cooled down, any expansion has gone.

Re: 3DS (2011) LED/Diode?

I don't think it is necessary for operation but I would scrape a little of the solder mask away and reuse the LED after removing the soldered on pads.

Re: new OS on a Sonim XP5s phone

I posted in this thread as a warning to others to check the listings in detail as it's easy to get mugged off and to point out why they weren't accepting warranty. Nothing to do with the seller. ...

Re: Thorn 65thl4kst1

You don't need to swap the boards just the faulty capacitors which is far easier and cheaper. you need to move your ground probe to the edge board and then test with the cables disconnected.

Re: Sony Bravia KD43XF7596BAEP - Android no picture

There should be a fuse on the t-con, it's under the metal shield in the middle of photo #2.

Re: new OS on a Sonim XP5s phone

I buy and sell on ebay, I have done for many years.
Regardless of what you say the price you paid for the phone shows it wasn't new. Every other listing by the same vendor is Open Box.
The facts...

Re: Tips on how to remove a very stuck memory chip on a GPU?

You can't get low melt solder under ics that use BGA. The gap is to small and the solder too thick.

Re: new OS on a Sonim XP5s phone

Ebay saves the original listing so you can check. Evey single listing for their phones says the same, open box, 30 day warranty.

Re: Tips on how to remove a very stuck memory chip on a GPU?

Re: Tips on how to remove a very stuck memory chip on a GPU?

You might be able to get away with using a bottom heater to hold the board around 100c and your cheap hot air station but ideally you need a decent hot air station like an Atten 862D or the Quick...

There are some on Ebay and AliExpress although it's hard to confirm when you don't include a model number or a photo.
